Starbury's Affordable Athlete Endorsed Shoes and Clothing Line

Everything You Need to Know About the Hit Clothing Line

Jason Cooley
NBA player and point guard of the New York Knicks Stephon Marbury "Starbury" has come out with a new line of affordable sneakers and clothing.

Other NBA players, like Hakeem Olajuwon and Shaquille O'Neal, have gone against the grain offering shoes way under market standards but never has an athlete endorsed shoe offered such a low price as the Starbury's. The "Starbury's" take it even further, offering a whole line of shoes and clothing ranging from athletic to casual. All shoes in the collection are only $14.98.

Marbury often goes by the nickname "Starbury", a name created during his youth. Marbury, the sixth of seven children, was born and raised on Coney Island.

Highlights:

1997 NBA All-Rookie (1st)

2000 NBA All-NBA (3rd)

2000-2001 NBA All Star

2002-2003 NBA All Star

2003 NBA All-NBA (3rd)

2004 led NBA in total assists with 719

Olympic Bronze Medal in Athens 2004

Malbury's career averages:
19.9 points per game

7.9 assists per game

Field Goal % 43.4

3 point % 32.5

Rebounds per game 3

Turnovers per game 3.08

The "Starbury" line is priced so low it has been reported by market experts that at $14.98 the shoes are being sold at about cost.

Why would this be?
How would this be beneficial?

Well the "Starbury" line is only available exclusively at "Steve& Barry's" stores. With the right combination of star power and affordability the "Starbury's" are expected to bring a rush of people into the store making the "Starbury" line not much more than an advertising campaign business wise. It's not very often that an advertising campaign can offer low income families something so tangible.

At this price the quality of the shoe has been questioned. Payless Shoes (which sells Shaquille O'Neal's "Dunkman" shoe line in the price range of the upper $30's) is over two times as much the price of the "Starbury's". The Shaquille O'Neal "Dunkman's," also known as an affordable shoe, has claimed that their shoe is the only one who's quality compares to those endorsed by other athletes priced over $100.

Though that is up for debate it is apparent that the "Starbury's" quality cannot compare to such high priced brands such as Nike. For $14.98 can you really expect the quality to be comparable to a shoe priced in triple digits? The fact is these shoes go above and beyond what you can expect from the price tag. These days the names on the shoes are what will separate a kid from feeling like an outcast to feeling excepted. The variety of not just colors but also multiple styles will suite personal appeal and is another nice touch.

Overall you can't go wrong with a celebrity endorsed line of clothing that people can afford to wear. It's nice enough to have cloths to cover yourself with but when you can afford to add a little something extra it's always a good thing. Stephon Marbury is said to wear the exact shoe for sale in his NBA games.

I can't write this in the third person... I just can't. To do so would make me feel like a douche big enough to accommodate Madonna. My articles are a change of pace from what you can expect anywhere else. M...  View profile
