The great majority of reviews from fans and critics are good for the Starcraft 2 empire; however, three major complaints keep springing up on forums and search engines.
Complaint One: No LAN support.
Part of the original Starcraft's appeal was the Local Area Network (LAN) play. Starcraft gamers could access the game on a local basis, through LAN parties and play the game with limited lag. Blizzard left LAN play out of Starcraft 2 and it has upset some loyal fans of the Starcraft universe. The forums are filled with Starcraft gamers claiming that they won't bother purchasing Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty until Blizzard allows for LAN play.
Most gamers aren't upset with the lack of LAN support and are fine playing the Multiplayer online experience that comes with the game. So why does this complaint matter? LAN players found this one of the best aspects of the Starcraft games; limited lag between opponents; the ability to play when and where you want. With the patch downtime that Starcraft 2 will have, LAN loving Starcraft 2 players are screaming for access to the LAN play.
Complaint Two: Its on a third of the game.
Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty comes with only one campaign, for the Terrans. The Protoss and Zerg campaigns will come later with two expansions to Starcraft 2. Complaints about the limited campaigns and having to pay three times for the core game are filling up the complain forums. Blizzard has always dealt with expansions and this isn't news to Blizzard loyalist, but some are complaining that this leaves the game unbalanced and that the single player campaigns are lacking.
Complaint Three: Overheating and melting of video cards.
The previous two complaints don't seem to keep people from purchasing the game but if the game is going to destroy computers, that may just put a serious halt to the growing number of Starcraft 2 purchases. The video card overheating issues has the feelings of the issue with the death grip on the iPhone 4. Blizzard, like Apple, are not denying the existence of the bug and have tried to patch the game to fix the issue but it isn't working for everyone.
Overall, Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty is still leading the RTS scene and with a limited amount of complaints, that won't change anytime soon. As more people complete the game, the complaints may continue but Blizzard seems to be pretty dedicated to addressing the issues at a fast pace. Their fast patch was released only a couple days after the release. So as long as you can deal with playing connected to broadband, only getting the lore of the Terrans and avoid melting your video cards, Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty is still an amazing experience.

Post a CommentI have the perfect solution. Release a Starcraft II LAN edition, without stupid mmo crap.
Include the following:
1. Map Generator.
2. Player vs player.
3. Player vs AI.
Then finally, cut that ridiculous pricing.
All we ever wanted was SC1 with better graphics.
Then for added fun, separately release an expansion pack that includes some campaigns/scenarios.
this is the first time I bought video game and was forced to go on line and post information on me where I live etc
and still have not yet been able to play
is it really a good idea to force people first on line
I think monday I am going to try to return the game but I was told that no video games can be returned in Europe
this is just the most fun I have not had
I guess you have to be a teenager and facebook & tweet to play this version
cool ah NOT
