Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty Terran Buildings: Tech Lab

This StarCraft 2 unit guide will cover the Terran Tech Lab add-on building. The Tech Lab is an add-on constructed by either the Barracks, Factory or Starport allowing these production facilities to produce more units, and in melee mode, allows the research of certain upgrades at the Tech Lab depending on what primary structure it is attached to. The Tech Lab is a new add-on in StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty meant to replace the Academy, Machine Shop and Control Tower from the original StarCraft.

The Tech Lab is first used in the StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty campaign mission 'The Outlaws'

StarCraft 2 Terran Tech Lab Research (melee only) - Attached to Barracks
Combat Shield: (Hotkey C) This upgrade costs 100 minerals, 100 gas and 110 seconds to research. Researching Combat Shield increases the hit points of Marines by 10 and changes the model to have a shield attached to their left arms.

StimPack: (Hotkey T) This upgrade costs 100 minerals, 100 gas and 140 seconds to research. Researching StimPack allows Marauders and Marines to exchange hit points (10 for Marines, 20 for Marauders) to boost attack and movement speed by 50% for 15 seconds.

Nitro Boost: (Hotkey N) This upgrade costs 50 minerals, 50 gas and 100 seconds to research. Researching Nitro Boost increases the movement speed of Reapers.

Concussive Shells: (Hotkey G) This upgrade costs 100 minerals, 100 gas and 140 seconds to research. Researching Concussive Shells gives the Marauder a slowing effect to their attack, slowing hit units by 50%.

Infernal Pre-Igniter: (Hotkey I) This upgrade costs 150 minerals, 150 gas and 110 seconds to research. Researching Infernal Pre-Igniter gives the Hellion a blue flame color, and gives the weapon an additional +10 damage vs light units.

Siege Tech: (Hotkey S) This upgrade costs 100 minerals, 100 gas and 80 seconds to research. Researching Siege Tech unlocks the Tanks ability to enter Siege Mode, making it stationary but giving it a longer range are of effect, higher damage attack.

Caduceus Reactor: (Hotkey A) This upgrade costs 100 minerals, 100 gas and 80 seconds to research. Researching Caduceus Reactor gives Medivacs an additional 25 starting energy when built.

Durable Materials: (Hotkey D) This upgrade costs 150 minerals, 150 gas and 110 seconds to research. Researching Durable Materials extends the timed duration of Raven Auto-Turrets, Seeker Missiles and Point Defense Drones.

Seeker Missile: (Hotkey R) This upgrade costs 150 minerals, 150 gas and 110 seconds to research. Researching Seeker Missile enables the Raven to use the Seeker Missile ability, deploying a homing missile that chases a target for 15 seconds, exploding upon impact for 100 damage.

Corvid Reactor: (Hotkey T) This upgrade costs 150 minerals, 150 gas and 110 seconds to research. Researching Corvid Reactor gives Raven an additional 25 starting energy when built.

Cloaking Field: (Hotkey C) This upgrade costs 200 minerals, 200 gas and 110 seconds to research. Researching Cloaking Field enables the Banshee to use the cloak ability, rendering it invisible until the cloak is revealed through the use of detectors or special abilities like the Ghost's EMP shot.

StarCraft 2 Terran Tech Lab Upgrades
Building Armor (melee only): Researched by the Engineering Bay (Hotkey B) this upgrade gives +2 armor to all Terran buildings, including the Tech Lab (3 Total). Excellent upgrade to help increase the longevity of all your buildings. Costs 150 minerals, 150 gas and 140 seconds.

Fire Suppression System (Campaign Only): Costs $90,000 to benefit all structures including the Tech Lab add-on by causing all fires to automatically be put out while buildings automatically repair themselves to 50%.

Tech Reactor (campaign only): Costs 25 research points into the Protoss tech tree, this upgrade combines the benefits of both the Tech Lab and the Reactor into a single building add-on, the Tech Reactor, which allows dual production of all units when attached to a Barracks, Factory or Starport. Nullifies the ability to receive the Orbital Strike upgrade.
