The Terran are the easiest play This just isnt true. The general statement is that Zerg have alot of cheap and weak units, Protoss have expensive and strong units and the Terran have a balance. People claim that the terran are easiest to play because of their balance. In my opinion and experiance, the terran are very difficult to play as. They have a very weak defense. If a new player is Terran then they will have a hard surviving most attacks. You might say that tanks will blow away anything that walks by. They will, if there are enough of them. Massing tanks is no easy feat. Speed upgraded zealots or Speed and attack upgraded zerglings will easily destroy tanks. This means that a new Terran player will have to manage tanks plus many vultures. He also needs to protect him self from air. This is very expensive to run a Terran army. They are too vulnerable, which means that many units are needed to protect each other. A dozen tanks will cost him 1,800 minerals and 1,200 gas. Anyone that has played the game knows that 12 tanks aren't enough. In order to play a balanced race you need balanced tactics. Balanced tactics are a very difficult thing to learn.
The Zerg do not need very many minerals because their units are cheap This is also false. If a zerg player is going to win. The zerg player needs what is called "Map Advantage". This is when he has more expansions (expos) than his opponent. That is because he has to fund hordes of units. The simplest Zerg strategy is to mass many units and overwhelm the enemy. This is not possible with just a few minerals. Sure zerglings are cheap, but in small numbers they are easily destroyed. Ultralisks cost a whopping 200 minerals and 200 gas. This makes them the most expensive ground unit in the game.
The Protoss require the most resource management I don't think so. The Protoss survivability rate far out weighs their cost. They have Photon Cannons which are easily the best defensive structure in the game. They cost 25 minerals less than any zerg defensive building and they cost 50 minerals less than it costs to simply fill a bunker, never mind the cost to build one. The cost for a zealot is not that bad when you consider all the damage one can do. It has a base attack of 16, 80 hitpoints and 80 shield. The protoss do cost alot per unit, but as long as the units arent wasted then they will definately earn their moneys worth.
