StarKist Tuna Review

The Other White Meat?

A.L.C.
StarKist tuna is a tasty, healthy, and economical treat. It tastes great and can be used in many meals. It is low in fat, low in calories, low in carbohydrates, yet high in protein. It is also a good source of OMEGA-3 fatty acids which may help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. StarKist tuna is also Dolphin Safe which means that during the harvesting of this tuna no Dolphins were harmed.

The usual can of this product weighs 5 ounces. It is easy to open with a conventional can-opener and pours out without muss or fuss. We like to use StarKist in tuna-fish sandwiches and as a stuffing in tomatoes. We enjoy the tuna packed in vegetable oil more than the water-packed variety. It just seems to taste better and is just as healthy.

The ingredients of a can of StarKist tuna in vegetable oil is; light tuna, soybean oil, vegetable broth, salt.

As far as taste goes we prefer StarKist tuna more than Chicken-of-the-sea. We are not however great fans of tuna casserole. In fact it is rather despised in this household.

When I was a kid my mom swore by Chicken-of-the-Sea. When I got out on my own I decided to give Starkist a try as it was generally cheaper. I bought three cans and they were the only and last cans I will ever buy. Two cans had multiple small fragments of bone in it and the 3rd one had what appeared to be an entire fish scale. Disgusting! Sorry Charlie Tuna, never again.

We grew up on tuna. When there was no tuna we ate fowl.

I like the fresh oil taste of starkist. I love it on tortilla and mayonaise.
