Starlight, Star Bright

The stars sing in such tiny voices
no bigger than a thread
strung on the loom
of the skies,

connecting one effulgent point
to the next,
weaving enchantments
that beat in time
with metronome hearts

in the breasts of these aetherial creatures.
They draw me in,
taking me away from you.

My wicked plum,
Don't fear, the fire will take you
sending you away from the sunshine
into the ashes
where I'll make crosses to keep you near.
