Star-Struck

Jose Zuniga

I think I shall keep me

as in love as the idea

of being struck by a star...

what a random thought,

my friend.

The end of a shoe

has laces

but the beginning

of a plant has roots...

now which roots stem

longer and can tie themselves

the best?

Is that love, to entangle yourself

better than a shoelace,

to beat roots in the entangling

race?

Or maybe, it concerns itself

with being struck...what strikes

better than a star?--Thunder and lightning,

as it electrifies the dark and gloomy sky,

scattering power lines bringing to life

light in the middle of the storm

for a quaint amount of time?

I think I shall keep me

as in love as the idea

of being struck by a star

I would not want to be struck...

by something which humans

can dig up, a cure from.
