A career as a Bodyguard requires training, but it can be a very rewarding and exciting career for the right type of person. Military or Law Enforcement personal are ideal for this kind of work because they offer skills that easily transfer to these positions. It also the kind of job that people can work full or part-time to make extra money.

Required Experience

Experience with firearms is desired; previous experience in law enforcement or the military people are preferred, but someone looking for a career can get training through a Bodyguard training school. Internet Security training is a plus.

People looking to become Bodyguards need to be physically fit and it help if they've had some form of experience in self-defense.

People, who fits the physical profile and can do analysis, assess security threats quickly, and diffuse or protect people depending on the security situation, can become a bodyguard with a short amount of professional training.

What Does a Bodyguard Do?

Bodyguards protect people. They assess all security threats and provide security measures to protect their clients. They do this by creating and planning travel routes, searching areas for threats, and preparing if necessary to use force. In some cases, they act as drivers in order to remain near their clients.

The Salary

A career as a Bodyguard pays, on the national average, between $20,000.00 to 37,000.00. Part-time Bodyguards can expect to be paid hourly in the range of $20.00 to $30.00.

Education

A minimum of a high school education is preferred. Some college or a college graduates in law enforcement is desired. A Military background will have preference.

A person who has a military background and is in excellent physical health can get a job as a bodyguard quickly depending on their military background. The demand for international Bodyguards increase every year, in today's world executives, companies, and others regularly hire Bodyguards for protection when traveling to areas of the world where kidnapping for profit is prevalent.
