Start a Career as a Production Coordinator

Film making is one of the employment categories that can make you a lot of money. If you are not a producer or director though you probably will need to do a lot of work and put in almost all of the time that you have because of the things that the job requires. I have a family member who works in the film industry as a production coordinator and she loves it because of how hands on the job actually is. Depending on your personality this could be a good or bad thing because of the fact that you will need to take care of every aspect of filming. You will need to make sure that everyone in the cast is present on sight for shooting and that they have everything they need. You will need to make sure that they are dressed properly and if they want food then you will be responsible for getting it for them. You will need to run all of their errands so that they are free to be on the set for the shooting.

You will also need to make sure that any props which are needed are one of the scenes are ready to be used by the actors. If the actors are having problems with their lighting then you will be responsible for getting it fix. If they are standing on the wrong spot and this is causing difficulties for the production then you will need to correct this. Most of all you will be required to make sure that everything runs smoothly. If you have a large cast and everyone needs a seat then you will be responsible for making sure that the seats are there. If the actors are late or unclear on their scenes then you will be in trouble because you must handle the coordination of these things. Also, one of the month important things is to make sure that the cast has signed their contracts before the production begins and that each of these people visits make up and hair before the filming begins.

If this sounds like a lot of work you are right because it will be but you should be prepared for this if you take some upper level film classes at a university. She has also found that business management classes are helpful for multi tasking. Besides that you will need to be very task oriented and organized and if you are not then this is not the right field for you.
