Start Your Children Recycling Early

Chris Collins
Getting your children involved in Recycling is very simple. Kids love to be active and feel like they are helping out. When you start small from an early age, your kids can grow up with a sense of responsibility for the world around us. If you are recycling aluminum cans or small pieces of copper and brass, it can become a treasure hunt. Any child would love to have the chance to make some money and feel like they are helping the environment.

One of the easiest ways to start children in recycling is with aluminum cans. Outside in a garage or shed give them there own can with a lid and a bag inside. Explain to them how they can fill the can with pop cans. Kids are very active and are all over the place, before long they will be able to fill that can. They will even enjoy crushing the cans to make more room. Once they have filled several bags you can take it the recycling center.

Children learn what they are taught. It is important with our world that we make a stronger commitment to cleaning it up. Before long most kids will want to clean up in other ways. You can hand them trash bags and they can start by walking on your road and cleaning up litter. You may want them to have two bags, one for items that can be recycled.

In addition most neighborhoods have recycling programs for various types of recyclables. Putting your child in charge of this recycling for your household will start them early and give them a responsibility. If each one of us did this it would make a large difference in the world around us. As they get older children may feel like they want to get more involved. Talking to teachers, churches and other community organizations is a wonderful way to start neighborhood recycling programs.

Really there is no negative aspect to getting your children involved in recycling. They will gain a sense of responsibility and respect to the world they live in. As they grow up they will not litter, and will clean up after themselves. No one will get rich off of recycling, however the ability to make a difference in the world makes up for that.

Planting the seed of interest for recycling with your kids is an easy process. Once you have them involved it will become a habit for them. It is a very beneficial way to teach them some important life lessons. After starting small you will be surprised it will take on a life of its own.

Crayons belong to the kids, it's a great "educational tool" to teach about recycling.
