In my first article, I ended by saying that I had finished selling my first site and would soon be listing it on Ebay. Well, I didn't sell it on Ebay. Where I sold it was on an awesome site called Flippa. Flippa used to be called SitePoint and has recently changed their name. Flippa is on online website marketplace for the buying and selling of websites and domains, as well.
So, how did my first site do? Pretty good. In fact, for that little site I make a quick hundred bucks! Not so bad for a first try, right? I didn't think so either. Now to get down to the nitty gritty of exactly what I did and what you should do if you are looking to make some quick cash flipping websites.
Now, as I said in my first article, this all came about for me after reading a fantastic ebook entitled, Site Biz Academy, which I still highly recommend to this day. I found it one day on Warrior Forum and haven't looked back since. It was truly a godsend after years and years of frustration trying to find an honest way to earn some cash. So anyway, after reading that book, I started looking for anything and everything having to do with the subject of flipping websites. There are some other pretty good books out there, but none as detailed as Site Biz Academy in my opinion. So, I learned all that I could on the subject and went to work, building easy WordPress websites.
Wordpress, in case you didn't know is a blogging platform, similar to Blogger itself. Blogger is where I started in fact. Blogger is still great, but I suggest if you want to get serious about site flipping, you sign up for your own hosting plan with Hostgator and install Wordpress. Now, I didn't know how to do any of this before reading that book I mentioned above. I had been following a well-known internet marketer by the name of Lynn Terry for some time and she had always recommended this as well, but I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to buy hosting, let alone a domain name or installing Wordpress. All of this is explained in Site Biz Academy.
So, basically the process is this: You buy yourself some hosting. Hostgator's the best in my opinion, like I said before. After that you'll want to get a cool domain name that is relevant to what you will build your site about. For example, if I was going to build a website on organic baby stuff, I'd get a domain name like organicbabyplace.com or something similar to that, you get the idea. Now, I like to stick with .com, .net, or .org's. They are what's considered premium domain names unlike the cheap .info and others. However, this is not to say that they won't sell. I've used them before and others are doing so right now with no problems. The choice is up to you on this one.
After you've got your domain name and hosting, you'll want to change the nameservers for your domain name to actually point to your hosting account. Now, when I first started out, I couldn't figure out for the life of me what any of this meant. I searched high and low looking for some easy step by step directions on this one. Now, I can tell you exactly how to do this because I've done it literally hundreds of times now. Hostgator will send you a welcome email after you sign up with them. This very important email will have your nameservers. You'll want to copy these. Now log in your domain name account. I use GoDaddy, you can use whoever you like. Once logged in, click on the actual domain name that you're working with. Above that you'll see Nameservers. Click on edit and just pop those nameservers right in. Now, when people type in your domain name, they'll be able to see your site.
But you don't exactly have a site yet, right? Nope, we're getting to that part right about now. You need to log into your site's cpanel, which stands for control panel. That important email I told you about will tell you exactly how to get there, too. Once logged in, all you'll need to do is quickly set up an email for the site. I always use info@domainname.com. After that you'll want to scroll down until you see a happy face icon with the word 'Fantastico' below it. Fantastico comes standard with most hosting I think, so you should have no problem finding this no matter what hosting company you use. You'll want to click on that and install Wordpress from there. It's all quite simple really, nothing technical at all.
After you have Wordpress installed, it's just a matter of installing a nice looking theme and some cool plugins for the site. If you want your site to auto fill itself with content you'll want to look for some cool auto-blogging plugins and there are hundreds if not thousands of them available for purchase today.
There's much more to site flipping than this one article can detail, so I've given you the core elements of what you'll first need to get started in the business of site flipping. Look out for part two to this article and if you want a detailed step by step account of exactly what to do to really start earning in the site flipping business, go ahead and grab your copy of Site Biz Academy today. It's a cheap investment and one of the best I've made this year. I've made thousands of dollars all because of it. Once you start site flipping, trust me you will not be able to stop. You'll get repeat buyers, buyer requests and have people contacting you left and right all wanting custom built sites.
Stay tuned for part two of this article and I wish you all the best of luch in your site flipping adventures!

Post a CommentLove this freaking article and love the business sense of mind that you have. I am so tickled right now because I recently have been thinking of the same thing. Basically, I write articles for another website called textbroker.com and I get many request for short blog articles or "about us" articles for websites that aren't even up yet. I use to wonder what was going on and then a client gave a statement once that the articles were to be used for a site that would be sold to anyone interested that was in the field of the theme of the website. I thought to myself hmmmmm, sounds like flipping a house, but never got quite around to doing anything further, other than continuing to write for them. So glad you've wrote this article, surely some motivation for me. Thanks again and you are definitely added to my fav. list
