Start a Photography Business Today

Many of us photographers train for years and spend thousands of dollars to start our photography businesses. However, there are a few photography businesses that don't require extensive photography knowledge. If you have a high megapixel digital point and shoot camera and a basic knowledge of how to use it you can make money with photography. Below are three business ideas that you can use to start a photography business today.

Real Estate
Realtors are always in need of a few photos of the houses they have listed. Most realtors have photos on their web sites that show each interior room and at least one view of the property from the outside. While many realtors take these pictures themselves there are many realtors that are willing to pay a small fee to have someone else take these photographs for them. Start your photography business by designing and mailing a flyer to local realtors.

Craigslist, Ebay, and Other Online Ads
There are many individuals that have something to sell but the lack the knowledge and equipment to list the item for sale online. Start a photography business that provides this service to those who do not have the time or knowledge to sell the item(s) themselves. There are two ways to make money with the online ad service. First by taking a photo and second through a percentage fee.

Make sure you have the customer sign an agreement that states that you will be paid before the service is offered. The contract should also state that there are no refunds and that the item is not guaranteed to sell. You will only collect the seller percentage if/when the item sells. The standard fee is twenty percent, but certain areas may be able to charge more.

Small Businesses with Websites
Product photography is multi-billion dollar industry, however small manufacturers and small retailers can not afford pricey product photography. With a fifty dollar investment for a light tent you can start a product photography business. Small business often have websites that offer online shopping or have a featured product of the month however many of the small manufacturers do not provide product images to small business. You can get started today by designing and mailing a flyer to local gift shops, pet boutiques, resale shops, and more!
