Step 1) Make a list of the services you are going to provide for your clients. Are you going to just walk dogs or will you take care of cats and scorpions as well? Will you also water the client's plants, take in the trash, give the pet medication, pick up doodoo, and pick up the mail for your client? Decide the answers to these questions before you begin.
Step 2) Set your fee. Pet sitting/dog walking rates per visit vary from $13 an hour to $21 an hour depending on where you are in the United States. Give a discount for a pet owner with multiple pets.
Step 3) Advertise your services. Grass roots marketing for this type of business is excellent. This includes putting 1,000 mailbox flyers on display in upper class neighborhoods, posting flyers on grocery store bulletin boards, having a bullet listing in your weekly community paper, etc.
