Starting a Cleaning Business: Why You Should Choose a Niche

How to Make Your Cleaning Business Profitable

When we hear the term niche, many of us automatically think of the internet and online businesses. Niches are used to describe a topic, a stance, a position or a role. What you may not know is that niches are important in any type of business, including cleaning businesses. Whether you have already started a cleaning business or if you would like to, you are advised to pick a niche, a particular area to focus on. These areas may include apartment cleaning, residential cleaning, or home cleaning. After a close examination, you will see that there are a number of benefits to doing so.

Perhaps, the most important reason for choosing a niche, such as office cleaning, apartment cleaning, or residential cleaning, is because it might help to save you money. There are many individuals, businesses, and landlords who prefer to have their establishments cleaned certain ways. This may require the purchase of specific supplies and materials, but will they be enough? A flooring cleaning machine is ideal if you need to clean an office or a retail store, but only if you use it enough. To ensure that you are making money, not losing it, you will want to tailor your cleaning business to a specific type of customer; in this case that customer would be a business owner.

Another reason why you should focus on either apartment cleaning, commercial cleaning or residential cleaning is competition. Most cities and town in the United States have a cleaning company. In fact, many cities and towns have multiple cleaning companies. This is a large amount of competition for your business. Choosing one particular area may eliminate a portion of that competition. Should you choose to focus on apartment cleaning, you will find that there are less individuals and companies who solely perform apartment cleaning projects.

Although you might assume that focusing on one particular type of cleaning may limit the number of customers you have, it doesn't have to be that way. In fact, another benefit to customizing your cleaning business is that it should be easier for you to get customers. If you are interested in apartment cleaning, you should target landlords. If you are interested in commercial cleaning, you should target business owners. If you are interested in residential cleaning, your focus should mainly be on homeowners. This approach will not only up your chances of acquiring new clients, but it will also help you save time by not targeting the wrong individuals.

By customizing your business to one particular type of cleaning service, you may also see an increase in clients due to your knowledge and performance. As previously mentioned, many individuals and companies have specific ways that they want their establishments cleaned. In most cases, you will find that many businesses have the same requests, and so on. Having a commercial cleaning business will let your clients know that you have experience cleaning establishments just like theirs. This is something not seen with many small cleaning companies. In fact, many do not end up producing the results that were sought after.

If you are in the process of starting a cleaning business, you are advised to try this approach. If it doesn't work as well as you had hoped, you can always expand your horizons to include all different types of cleaning. If you are currently operating a cleaning business and your business isn't performing up to your standards, try customizing your cleaning business. It just might produce the results that you were looking for.

I've been in Commercial cleaning for 10 years, my parents before me for 35. If you work hard and practice good customer service skills you can really separate. Check out www.bidcleangrow.com for help on bidding, and running your business as well as a helpful free newsletter focused on managing your business. I've found both to be helpful.

    yourselfHere are some suggestions:
-stay away from residential unless you enjoy it. more drive time + Gas prices means more expense
-commercial can be tough to break into but is lucrative.
-medical office is the most lucrative.
-dentists for some reason tend to expect more cleaning for less. avoid when you can.
-the easiest jobs to get are apartment complexes. its fast income to help you start.
