Running your own business can increase your income and give you a new sense of pride. For people who love teaching children, starting a day care is a wonderful idea for a business. It can be very profitable and rewarding since you are providing a much needed service for families. You'll also have some very sweet and adorable clients to care for.

There are several things for you to consider as you start a day care. First, make sure that you are very aware of the licensing requirements that exist in your area for starting a day care. It is illegal to start a day care without being licensed. It is also illegal to run that day care without following all specifications that are laid out by the city and state in your area.

Next, it would be a good idea to decide on a name for your business as you are starting your day care. Check your local business bureau to make sure that the name that you choose is not already being used. Register your business' name.

You also need to consider the number of child care workers that you are going to need as you start a day care. Your local laws will have requirements as to how many children you can have for each adult that you have caring for them. It is crucial for you to follow these child care giver regulations.

You need to decide what structured learning activities you will include for each age group of children. Children who are busy, learning, and productive are much easier to care for than children that are allowed to simply roam free and entertain themselves. As you can see, planned activities are important to plan as you're starting a day care.

It's also important to acquire an appropriate location. It must have room for the children to play outside as well as have activities inside. There needs to be separate areas for the different ages of children. It must be secure, safe and easy to childproof. Make sure there is sufficient room for children to rest at the appropriate times. You'll also need a separate room to act as your office, where you will safely store all your records and paperwork.

The next thing to do is find yourself some clients. There are several options you can choose from to attract business when starting a day care. You may choose to hand out fliers to nearby neighborhoods, place an advertisement in your local newspaper, or even start your own internet website. Once you have a few clients, word of mouth will be one of the best marketing tools that you can utilize.

Stay organized and make sure to do so systematically as well as professionally. Enjoy your time with the little ones. You will find that starting a day care is not as complicated as it at first seems to be.
