Starting a franchise, or buying into a franchise is one way of owning your own business and being your own boss. Below are a few tips, ideas and suggestions as to how you can go about getting or starting a franchise:

1. Seek advice and guidance. Look for and take professional and free advice and guidance wherever and whenever possible. Try to learn from other peoples mistakes as this will save you time, hassle and money.

2. Work out your finances. To start a franchise you will need finance in place so get your finances both personal and business finances in order. The more in order and organise you are the easier it will be to see what money you have or need to get a franchise up, running and off the ground.

3. Put together a business plan and a cash flow forecast. Put down your figures and get it down in black and white. A business plan will help you get organised and help you see how you are going to make your franchise work.

4. Decide what you want to do and what type of franchise you want to start up. Get advice, follow your dreams and find out what is available that could well just meet and suit your needs and wants.

5. Do your homework and your market research. Research what is needed within the market place, find a gap then fill it with a niche/niche franchise.

6. Find a business ban account. Start looking for bank accounts that can offer you a suitable business bank account, plus guidance, advice and help as and when you need it.

7. Work out and put together your start up costs. This will give you a good starting base as to what your initial costs for starting and running a franchise will be and see if its right for you.

8. Get as much information as you can on any franchise you wish to start or open. Research the company your wishing to purchase a franchise off, do your research, your homework, and don't forget to ask as many questions as possible.

9. Consider all of your options. By this I mean consider all types of franchises, all locations, all target markets and so on. Remember that the more options you have open to you, the more choice you have when making your final decision with regards to what franchise you would like to get your teeth into.
