Starting Lineup for the 2011 NASCAR Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway
NASCAR Race 2 Starting Lineup - 2011 Subway Fresh Fit 500
Perhaps the most surprising result in qualifying today was the performance of the Hendrick stable. Jeff Gordon was the top qualifier for that multi-car team, but you have to go back to 20th starting position to find him. Mark Martin qualified 23th. Jimmie Johnson was 28th and Dale Earnhardt Jr. qualified in 35th.
Andy Lally was the only rookie contender to qualify for the race. Brian Kesolowski, who was one of the Cinderella stories in Daytona, was the only car not to make the field. Tommy Baldwin, owner of Dave Blaney's #36 Accell Construction Chevy sits shot gun on the field. Baldwin posted to his FaceBook page the night prior to qualifying that the wreck in practice forced the team to go to their backup car. That backup car is their primary car for Las Vegas next week, so instead of racing they will be forced to start and park this week so they have a car to run next week in Vegas.
The Subway Fresh Fit 500 will run on Sunday February 27 at Phoenix International Raceway. The green flag will drop at 1 p.m. Phoenix time and be carried live on the FOX television network at 3 p.m. eastern standard time. Check you local listings for your FOX affiliate.
