Starting Your Own Business

Dawn Conklin
If you are tired of the 9-5 routine, you may want to think about working at home. There are many ways to earn money working at home. Starting your own business is the most rewarding. There are many things to think about when starting your own business though.

First you will need to think about what you would like your business to be. This should be something that you are passionate about. If you choose something that you are passionate about then you have a much better chance for success. You will start with excitement and should be able to keep up the excitement as you are already passionate about it. Make a list of things you are passionate about. This could be anything from your kids to cats to cooking. Pick out which passion you think would be a great business for you to start and work from there.

In order to choose which passion you would like to use, think about what you can do with that passion or what you know about it. I will use mine for an example. I have been working at home for about 5 years now and it has become a passion and also my full time business in the last couple of years. When I first started out I did not know much about it but wanted to try it to be home with my kids. As I learned more about it through research and trial and error I started to become passionate about working at home and helping others to work at home. That is when I started my business, about 2 years ago. I had a lot of knowledge by that point and a real passion to help others.

Let's say your passion is kids. Now you have to think about your knowledge of kids and what you can offer people. Do you want to produce books with kid friendly recipes? Maybe you want to share with people how to potty train or how to make crafts with kids. Think about if you want to make physical products that you want to sell such as shirts or if it is a service you want to offer. You can also offer information through the form of books whether it be hard copy books that people buy or information books that people buy and download over the Internet. If you are doing a business over the Internet you will need to have a website where people can buy your product. I recommend starting a blog about your business also as a form of advertising. If you are planning on selling a product you will need to research how you are going to have the product made and shipped to the customer. Selling information on the Internet is a lot more cost effective if people can download your book right away. It eliminates shipping costs, cuts production costs and no need for a store or a warehouse to keep your product in.

There is a lot to think about when starting your own business, you need to make a full business plan including everything you will need to do to get your business started.Things you will probably need to think about or research on:
What is my passion?
What do I want to be my business?
How will I make my product?
Do I need a store or am I going to be online, you can do both.
Creating a Web site.
Advertising
Creating a blog
How am I going to ship my product to customers?
Do I need a warehouse to hold all of my products?

Those are a few things to think about before jumping in. Starting your own business is very rewarding but if you do not create the perfect business plan with thought out details it will be a very frustrating experience. Take the time to do research and think it all out and you will have the ability to turn your business dream into a reality.

I have been teaching people about working at home for the past 2 years, this information is stuff that I have learned throughout my business experience. It is not a full course on how to do it, there is a lot to learn, but it will definitely help you to get your business plans onto paper and help you think about what it will take to succeed
