Many of these will benefit greatly from planting them inside at first. People often start these seedlings in a sunny window somewhere, thinking that they are doing a good deed to them, but instead they are not getting the full potential or benefits of indoor flower starting.
Seedlings tend to grow better under lights, like fluorescent. They will grow straighter and tend to grow sturdier. Incandescent lights do not provide the proper lighting for plant growth, and therefore, will not be beneficial at all.
You need fluorescent because it will work as good as the expensive lights that are out on the market, right now. Choose a fixture though that accommodates to the space you have already. Select lights that will be proper size and be the most beneficial.
One thing to keep in mind is the fact that the light fixture should be able to hang or be extended so that as the plant grows then the light fixture can be adjusted to that change. The lights should be no higher than four inches from the top of the seedlings. Most seed packs will tell you on the backside what to look at. Most will also tell you how many weeks in advance when to plant them indoors.
Make the most out of any used materials you might have laying around the house, and take advantage of seedlings and their necessity to survive. Starting a seed inside will make planting it outside more profitable, in most cases. The plant will have a good start, and you will have the benefit of watching your seed turn into a seedling, and then on.
Have fun planting new seeds and experiment, using different methods. Some of the greatest joy comes from knowing you did something right and you did it yourself. Look for more information in articles, and check discount places to save you some money on all your supplies, to get started. Many places offer a lower price than you think on things that might be beneficial to you. Have fun.
