Marketing research indicates that women are the primary decisionmakers in as much as 60-80% of consumer-purchasing decisions. As an entrepreneur, you must consider how women decisionmakers impact your product or service. Better yet, create a start-up that is specifically targeted to the female audience.

In true spirit, I have collected a list of potential business start-ups that appeal to women as the primary audience. Below is the list to get your ideas started:

1. Using the theme of health and convenience, there is a market for healthy snacks for expecting mothers. If you can combine vitamins and minerals required during pregnancy to make a snack bar with a refreshing taste, you will have a winner. You can sub-niche by targeting busy working women who are expecting.

2. Staying with the expecting mother theme, there is an opportunity to design lingerie for mothers to be. Most of the maturity fashion exhibits a lack of sexy, fresh designs that match the various stages of pregnancy. Grandmothers are not expecting. These women are young females with a sense of style.

3. Have you ever saw a female runner who looked like she was wearing her husband's clothes? Hence, women prefer to be pretty regardless of what they are doing at the time. The growing market is for sportswear designed specifically for women. This will include running shoes, active wear, etc. If you have a fashion design background, you can create a brand that carries the clothing brand.

4. How can you help women to participate in the "green" movement? Think about hair and nail salons that every women visits from time to time. Salons are notorious for the use of chemicals in their treatment options. Go green by creating a hair and nail salon that uses non-toxic substitutes for the harsh chemicals in beauty treatments. I bet you customer will pay just a little more to be green.

5. Like to get into the wedding industry? How about a clothing retailer that provides the dresses and accessories for the bridesmaid party. The will present an opportunity for several sales from just one wedding party. The key will be to work directly with the bride to make selections and them sale the designs to the wedding participants.

6. Have you ever shopped for nursery decorations and actually found what you really wanted? Traditional shops focus on the one-size-fits-all concept with little customization. However, many parents would more emphasis on their culture. The opportunity is to create culturally relevant nursery décor to target different culture segments of the nursery market.

7. Don't forget to help the expecting mother to google over her soon to be delivered baby. The latest rage is the 3D/4D ultrasound technology that can create the prenatal baby video. Using this concept, you can create a package bundle with videos at different stages of the expecting mother's pregnancy. This is also available as a franchise business.
