It's easy getting started. All you need to do is create an account which consists of a user name, password and e-mail account. The e-mail account is used to send the code that you later copy and paste into your website editor. Next after you activate your account, go into your projects area and put in your website address. You can have more than one website, each has it's own different website counter code. Your free log is limited up to 500. This means you can only keep a record of the past 500 events. For a fee you can upgrade anywhere between 1,500-100,000 with the price starting at $9.00 a month.
With Stat Counter you can view your first time visitors, returning visitors and how long each time someone spends on the website. You even get detailed stats of where the visitor is coming from such as their country information, how they were referred to your website and which pages they spent the most and least amount of time on. This helps to determine which webpages need work and which ones are doing well.
Instead of doing searches on search engines to see where you rank for certain keywords, Stat Counter tells you where your visitors are coming from off of the search engines such as Yahoo, Google and MSN. There's even a page to inform which keywords are working the best for your website. There's even stats about web browsers, operating systems and resolution stats of your guests. If you don't have a lot of time to view your stats, you can have them e-mail weekly or monthly. You can even have CCed of your stats to others via e-mail. If you upgrade your account for a fee, you can also obtain daily e-mail reports.
If you need help with your Stat Counter, there's a FAQ's area, e-mail form and if you have an account, you can submit a web ticket to submit your question. There's even a blog about what's happening and a web forum where webmasters can chat and ask for help on other issues. Instead of adding the standard counter that's pretty basic, check out Stat Counter to help your website grow. It's a good and free tool that will help you make sense of what your website needs and where your website shines. Check it out today @ http://www.statcounter.com/
