State of Affairs at Roush Fenway

Jacob Horn
I wrote an article a few months ago talking about how I recently became a Roush Fenway fan. I am not exactly in love with any of their drivers. I mean I like them but nothing really sets them apart. I became a Roush Fenway fan because my grandfather bought some Ford stock. I came to the conclusion that Ford stock would be partially influenced by what happens on the racetrack and if Ford race cars could win some races if might just help my grandfather make a little extra money (Note: I do understand that Ford stock is only slightly if at all influenced by how Ford performs on the racetrack). So, as you can imagine being a Roush Fenway fan has been tough lately.

So maybe I am being a little too negative. Kenseth did win the first two races of the 2009 seaon including the Daytona 500 but after that he fell off the map. Biffle and Edwards made 'The Chase' but were never really in contention. Jamie McMurry won the Fall race at Talladega but showed litlle consistency outside of that and David Ragan was not really heard of at all last year.

2010 has largely started off the same way. Yes, Biffle and Kenseth currently sit 3rd and 4th and Edwards is knocking on the door and while that is nothing to be ashamed off anybody who knows anything about NASCAR is not predicting any Roush Fenway driver to be in contention for 'The Chase' come late Fall. I mean hardly anybody is even picking them to win races anymore and understandibly so. It is like they are not even talked about anymore when it comes to the favorites. I feel like Carl Edwards is probably having some confidence issues. I think if he could just win one Sprint Cup race you would see a completely different driver. Biffle has been close a few times and I truly believe he is our best bet to win the championship this year. Kenseth has been nothing but consistent this year but how long can he keep it up. I know he is a former cup champion but I can see the wheels falling of that one quickly (or the oil dripping on the racetrack like it did today).

I want to see Roush Fenway get things turned around quickly but I believe that most things go in cycles and Roush Fenway is currently taking its turn as RCR (Richard Childress Racing) did since basically the mid 90's when Hendrick came on board. I do not know what it will take to get things turned around at Roush Fenway but I am hoping it gets taken care of soon because you cannot buy GM stock anymore and Chrysler does not trade publicly and Toyota, yeah I am definitely staying away from that for at least the next few years, so since I already have a stake in Ford I want to stay with Roush Fenway but I also want to come out on the winning side every once in a while.
