The State Fair of Texas 2011 is right around the corner. I always get so excited thinking about turkey legs, corny dogs, funnel cakes, and all the new deep fried goodies the vendors will be selling. But, all of those treats, games, and souvenirs can put a big dent in your wallet. Here are a few ways you can save a few bucks during this season's State Fair of Texas 2011.

• As always Dallas Independent School District (DISD) students get FREE tickets from their schools. Dallas ISD Fair Day is October 7 for elementary, and October 14 for middle and high school.
• On September 30, you can bring a 20 oz. bottle of any Coca-Cola product for donation to the North Texas Food Bank and get in for only $5. One donation per person.
• Bring an empty Dr Pepper can to any State Fair admission gate after 5 p.m. and enter for $5.
• Admission is $2 for each visitor bringing three cans of food on Wednesdays for area food banks.
• Bring a Cinemark Theater ticket stub and get free admission on Thursdays.
• Get $4 off General Admission with a McDonald's State Fair coupon available on tray liner or bag stuffer any day of the Fair. A free child ticket (with purchase of general admission) coupon is also distributed by McDonald's.
• Senior citizens may enter for FREE every Thursday.
• Bring an empty 20 oz. bottle of a Coca-Cola product and enter the Fair for $5 admission on Thursdays.
• Every Tuesday, bring an empty Dr Pepper can and enter for $4.
• FREE admission for Museum of Nature & Science members.
• If you buy a ticket to the West Side Story performance at the Music Hall at Fair Park, it will include a same-day free fair admission.

So hopefully you'll be able to take some of these discounts and have a great time at this year's State Fair of Texas. If you're going with family, friends, or just solo--make sure you don't go over your budget and have a memorable time.
