State of Teenage Relationships

Jacob Horn
One of my assignments at the school where I work is to eat lunch with a group of about four or five kids. So just the other day I am sitting down at our table when one of the girls and one of the boys sit down by each other. The boy had been out a few days the week before and the girl had asked me everyday what was going on with him. That and other indicators led me to believe we might have a little teenage relationship. So, back to the story at hand, the boy and girl sit down by each other when the girl sees one of her teachers enter the lunchroom. She then asked me to go and speak with that teacher to see if she could be moved once we got back in the classroom. I asked her why she needed to be moved, to which she replied that certain girls thought that she was looking at their boyfriends. I responded by saying something to the extent of why would they think that when you have your own boyfriend? She kind of smiled and I looked at the young man and I asked him if they were indeed boyfriend and girlfriend. Here is his almost exact quote:

"I don't know. She is the one you need to talk too. Sometimes I forget."

And so goes that state of teenage relationships in the year 2010.
