Traveling through Jersey City trying to avoid Toll Roads and traffic jams, I finally reach my destination. Reservations made in advance assure me a spacious room at the Hotel "W". Having never heard of "W" hotels before, I did a little research and found out from the front desk that they are affiliated with the Sheraton chain. As past stays with Sheraton caused me to enroll in their perks card, I am adding points with my "W" stay too! (These hotels fall under the "Starwood" group).
The "W" Hotel is a complete surprise. Part of a chain of world-wide "W" hotels, 37 currently, they really have stepped out a bit in the design of the rooms. Cool and contemporary, with a fresh and clean feeling my king sized room overlooks the Hudson River. Perhaps I'll order room service and never leave. Watching the activity on the river, as well as on the street below is fascinating.
However, I do think I will head out, walk around Hoboken a bit, then try one of the restaurants here at the "W". (Put Frank Sinatra's home place and his namesake park on your list of things to view).
This location has much to offer; first and most important to this writer: "P.A.W" This stands for Pets are Welcome, and they truly are! There is a $25.00 pet fee per fuzzy friend, but available amenities include litter boxes, litter and scoop, turn-down treats, food and water bowls, custom pet beds, dog walking services (yippee!!). There is a one time deposit, unfortunately nonrefundable, of $100.00, but if you are planning a weekend it still compares with a boarding fee, and you have your pets with you.
Food is important to the traveler! "W" has the Chandelier Room, Zylo, and the Living Room. The Living Room and the Chandelier Room are upscale lounge-type settings with the Living Room being in the Lobby, the Chandelier Room is by itself. Both serve cocktails and snacks, and are perfect for kicking back and relaxing. One can spend hours sitting, talking, or just day-dreaming. Zylo is the dining area of "W" in Hoboken. What an experience in Italian/Steakhouse cuisine! Dress is classy-casual-comfortable and the complete dining experience will be memorable.
The "W" offers spas, massages, work-out facilities, shopping in the in-house store (great for forgotten items and gifts). The staff is well schooled on transportation options for any sight seeing trip. (Don't forget about the dog walking service while you are sight seeing, or settling in for that afternoon cocktail or brunch).
Facilities are available for weddings, business meetings and conferences. There is also an amenity special to this hotel called the "Whatever, Whenever" service. Rumor has it that as long as it is legal the hotel will make it happen. Whatever you can dream, whenever you may want it, (remember, legal only). The staff shared the story of a bathtub filled with chocolate, or the helicopter service dropping off a wedding gown in the nick of time! How cool is all that? This writer has no idea what any of these things might cost, but for the once-in-a-lifetime experience, what the heck, right??
This being my first "W" Hotel experience, in Hoboken, New Jersey makes it my best "W" experience.
If I have the opportunity to stay here in Hoboken again, or at any other "W" Hotels throughout the world I will definitely take advantage of same. This hotel is definitely worth the trip to Hoboken, if only for the view from the river view rooms. My pooches loved the attention and would go back too,--they never have 'turn-down' treats at home.
Come soon and stay often at the "W" Hoboken, New Jersey Hotel, it is a unique hotel in a great town!
