During the cooler moments of a day or a week, I start drinking regular coffee just to get warm here. Not my usual habit, though I'm a huge frappie fan. One day, I walked into The Sacred Grounds Cafe on Hayes St. in the Haight. With freshly made muffins, sweets, and thick and rich cappuccinos, I was at home. Several newspaper stands line the outer wall of the wooden inside. Reading and studying is openly welcome. When I went in the daytime, there was no musical group playing. At later times in the night, however, an open mic crowds draws in enough people to fill the upper balcony. On other days, local artists come by to leave artwork to display. Since the late '70s this has been beacon to those with talented opinions who love to share them. The Sacred Grounds Cafe is located at: 2095 Hayes St. with a cross street of Ashbury.
