Find time to read during your vacation. Reading is not only fun, but you may learn a lot from doing it. Reading keeps the mind going and will help you make the transition of going back to work. Pick a quiet time each day and read for at least 30 minutes. A good idea is to read right before bedtime. Reading will help you to avoid being lazy and sitting around watching television all day.
Stay active. If you fall into the trap of sitting at home everyday and watching TV, it will be very tough to get back in work mode. Find ways to stay active during your vacation. Visit family and friends you haven't seen. Stay active by working out for a good 45 minutes every day. Find a way to keep moving, whatever you choose. Even if it's walking around at the mall, being active is much better than just sitting around the house.
Catch up on some studying. Maybe you have a class that you did not do well in. Why not look back over your work and study. Perhaps you are trying to get a head start on a subject. Christmas Break is a great time to do so. The good thing about studying during this time is that you can take your time, work at your own pace and stop when you want to. No deadlines, no homework, no teachers. You are simply looking to increase your knowledge. You will probably find you mind is much sharper than expected when you go back to schools.
Find time to rest. This might sound like a mistake but it's really not. Some people are so busy doing stuff over the holidays they don't get any rest. They spend all of their time visiting people, shopping for the holiday or preparing for visitors. These things are all great to do but you must remember that this is your break. Your time will go by quickly so make sure to reserve some time to rest your body and mind. This way you will feel refreshed and ready to work, when the new semester begins.
Don't make the mistake of going into total shut down mode during the holiday. Continue to keep your mind and body active so you will be ready for work when the holiday is over!
