Staying Gluten Free

Review of Ener G Tapioca Hamburger Buns

The Loss of a Loved One-Comfort Foods

So far I've done an article mainly about food intolerance's -not allergies that discussed among other things, an intolerance to Gluten. I've done two other reviews of Gluten free replacements for those like me who crave the breads, the starches. One was Review Schar's Classic White Bread ,
and the other was Review of Glutino Gluten Free Crackers . If someone told me I'd have to go the rest of my life with no sweets, no desserts or candies, I'd be fine. I could care less about sweets, and besides that, the sugar free foods have now come so far, even if sweets were a problem, one has many options. Take away my bread, my cereal, my breaded food, my bagels, oh the list is endless-its like losing a certain part of your life. One must
readjust, think and read before putting anything into your mouth, plan ahead. Plan, plan, plan. No more just saying hey I feel like a (insert comfort food here) and grabbing it and eating it.

The Controversy of Gluten Free as Being a Fad

I have to say, I had no idea that this indeed was a diet "fad". Especially when I embarked upon it myself, because all I could think of was how very miserable I was, and how incredibly hard the diet is to follow. This is only one of many health issues I face, discovered by accident during my last hospital stay. I could not believe the difference I felt, besides being mentally miserable about the food I couldn't have. The only reason I knew part of my problem was food related was after a week of no food, not even clear trays at the hospital. Once I got home and got very small very portions of clear foods in my stomach I couldn't believe how much better I felt than usual. Three days after I started eating regular again, I woke up feeling like I got run over by a truck. So, started the elimination diet. Gluten intolerance symptoms fit so well, I started with that, and found that indeed, that was the one. Subsequently I also found out the results of my stomach biopsy. No more Gluten for me.One should always consult a doctor before going on any type of diet, and especially when it completely excludes anything from one's diet.

The Review-Ener G Tapioca Hamburger Buns-Taste and Size

These buns actually weren't too bad. Typically, the bread, crackers basically anything starchy I have found to be very flat and bland. With a little spicing up though, I have made each thing tolerable. This bun really didn't take much to make it seem like a "real" hamburger bun. Just a little toasting in the oven and we were good to go. Ener G Tapioca Hamburger Buns definitely didn't seem as flat as the other gluten free foods I've tried so far. The size of these buns are that of about half the normal hamburger bun, so instead of eating larger portions, another plus to this bun is portion control. I did get that nice comfy full feeling after having a great hamburger topped with onion encased in this bun.

The Review-Ener G Tapioca Hamburger Buns-Nutritional Information

Serving size for this product is one bun. The calorie count is 120. Ener G Gluten Free Tapioca Hamburger Buns has a total of 3 g of fat. This bun has 0 cholesterol. The sodium, as was with the other gluten free products was a little high at 150 mg. Total carbs is 21g. So, while the calorie count is low, there are other things to watch out for. These things seem to be the same in all the products I've reviewed so far. Just as a normal diet though, moderation is key. There is no reason to worry as long as one remembers that mantra-moderation is key.

The Review-Ener G Tapioca Hamburger Buns-Buying This Product

You can find all gluten free foods on line that cater to celiacs and people who are Gluten intolerant. One can also purchase these foods in specialty health food stores. So far though, I have bought all of my Gluten Free food at the local Giant Supermarket. The prices are a little more reasonable, and it is convenient. The price of Ener G Tapioca Hamburger Buns was $3.99, slightly lower when comparing to on line stores. However, keep in mind, this is for four buns. So yes, it is substantially higher than that of regular hamburger buns. If you did want to order on line, you can g directly to the Ener G site and order these hamburger buns there. The price on the site is $5.29. Also, keep in mind, they do not keep! Although packaged very sturdy, the will go bad (mold) very quickly. A good idea is not to open unless you plan on using all four within a couple of days. This takes some creativity, but can be done, and then there is no waste. Like I said-plan, plan, plan.

The Review-Ener G Tapioca Hamburger Buns-Recommendation

Would I recommend this bun to someone who could not have Gluten? Absolutely! As far as the other foods I have reviewed so far, this one was the best. I would however, warn of the quickness they go bad.
