Staying Happy is a Skill..........Learn It!

Learn It!

Emma Jacobs
Life is a gamut of various emotions; Happiness, despairs, anger or sorrow. When we are with friends or celebrating the feeling of happiness comes to us naturally. Festivals are usually a time which brings us a lot of happiness. But are we likewise happy at other times too?

Life gives us lots of opportunities to feel happy and its well justified. And the best part it you have a control on your happiness as you are the one who has to chose to be happy. The magic mantra to feel this magnificent emotion is stop thinking about it and start living it. You must train your mind to feel the happiness. Like we train our dogs each time we interact with them. We don't have any fixed time for training. It's an ongoing process. You deliberately train your dog to behave in a way you want him to. Similarly you have to train your heart to always be happy, not only in the good times, but even in the worst of times. Your mind is at peace when you are meditating. But during the rest of the time it's restless in the hustle bustle of routine activities. You have to train your mind to reach a stage where happiness becomes a state of mind. Not a reaction to a good moment.

But obviously it's not as easy as it seems. Our mind is a complex creation of God and to bring it under our control is undoubtedly a challenging task. Whenever the mind wanders towards negative thoughts, pull it back. You can do it by engaging yourself in some distracting and vigorous activities like dancing, singing, horse riding or even a simple exercise session with friends. No bad phase lasts forever. Always remember that and make a conscious effort to keep yourself joyful.

You have to sow the seeds of happiness in your being and irrigate them each moment of your life with conscious positive thoughts and actions. It's not a possession you can get from an external source but from within yourself. To feel happy and to capture that feeling in your mind is a luxury we all can have with just a little shift in our current frame of mindset. However if you give up making efforts and indulge in your sorrows forever it's easy to go into a state of depression.

There are a few simple ways of achieving a perpetual happy state. One way is to make happiness your ultimate goal in life. Get up in the morning and say to yourself that you will be happy and face the challenges of the day with complete courage and a faith that no one is strong enough to take away that smile from your face. Do it, it works.
Kick off the negativities as far away from you as possible. Let the steam of negativities release from your being and flows of happiness replace them. Hug a teddy and use him as a sponge to absorb all your worries and negative thoughts in him. What will be left is a better you with a fresh happy mind ready to face the world again.
Remember that whether it is good time or bad time, it will pass off to be replaced by another phase of life. So it's better to sit back at the time of predicament with a smile on your face and wait for the happy moments to invade your life again.
