Step 1: Join a fitness gym. Joining a gym is a very important step. This forces you to put your own hard earned money into something by paying for a gym membership. And another thing: don't just pay for one month of membership. If you live next to a good workout gym like the New York Sports Club or Balleys Fitness, then it is definitely worth it to join the gym for a year membership. By joining the gym for a long period of time instead of only one month, you are forcing yourself to put down more money and making a long term commitment to your own body.
Step 2: Get a Personal trainer. If you are really serious about working out and losing weight or staying fit, pay for a personal trainer for a short period of time. Not only will a personal trainer put you on a weekly workout schedule, but they will also show you what exercises and routines to do when working out. The personal trainers at gyms are usually very friendly and are willing to help you and answer any questions you may have. Once you know what workouts and routines you need to do to stay in shape, you no longer have to pay for a personal trainer.
Step 3: Eat right. Eating healthy foods is needed in order to stay in shape. If you are hoping to lose or gain weight, make sure that you stay off of unhealthy foods and snacks. When you are shopping, do not buy packages of junk food or cookies. Instead, replace at home snacks with nuts and fruit and vegetables to snack on. If you have a late night craving, eat a package of trail mix with fruit and nuts which will satisfy your appetite. If you are hoping to lose weight, you could go on a diet but you do not need to if you plan of working out consistently. By running and doing fitness exercises and eating healthy, you will lose weight.
Step 4: find a workout partner or make a routine schedule for yourself for working out. By making working out a part of your daily schedule, it will be like clock work to you and not something that you forget about or dread. Try and see which of your friends have a fitness gym membership so that you can work out with them and help each other or encourage each other while working out. You can also try to watch fitness and health shows on television for ideas on what to eat or other fitness exercises to do.
Good Luck!
