Staying Warm and Looking Hot: Tips for Cold Weather Fashion
Stay Warm with Knits Your Grandma Would Be Jealous Of
There's no reason with the accessories and apparel lining the shelves at your favorite clothing stores that it has to be that way. Coats have become streamlined and stylish while gloves are smooth and sleek. The onset of winter really means being fashion forward even when you think someone can't see what you're wearing underneath your coat. Knits are one of the hottest trends this seasons and that doesn't mean they have to be hidden by your coat either.
Sleeves
Just because it's cold out doesn't mean you have to resort to wearing long sleeve shirts. One of the hottest trends for cold weather are knit sleeves. That's right; knit sleeves that start at your wrist and covers your upper arm. They're stylish, trendy and come in an assortment of colors to match your outfits. The knit can be smooth or created with cable designs. Pair these with your favorite transitional piece and you'll be pleased to see you're keeping warm and getting to wear your favorite short sleeve top during the winter season.
Scarves
Long, short, decorated or plain scarves are a staple for cold weather but so often it's looked at as an item of function and not fashion. Not during this season though. Knitted scarves are luxe and rich and offer fashionable looks to complement any coat. Traditional blacks, grays and whites are available but a scarf should be bold and daring. Add a jewel tone scarf that has sequins or lurex and wear it thick and full around your neck to add color to your outerwear and to give your face a colorful bright lift.
Cowl Neck Warmer
Traditionally, sweaters were the only place to find a flowing cowl neckline but not anymore. Retailers have taken this draping neckline and made it available all on its own. This knit is available in bold bright colors while others are embellished with beading and sequins. Some cowl neck warmers have a handmade feel with thick yarns while others are smoother and more polished looking.
Jackets with Knit sleeves
You love the look of a sweater, but can't stand the bulk underneath your coat? One way to eliminate this issue is to wear a crossbred sweater coat. These are not your average long heavy sweater coats worn over your clothes either. Some of the most stylish coats for this winter have heavier body styles such as pea coats, belted walking coats and leather blazers with knit sleeves.
Sweater Boots
Luckily for boot lovers, layered sweater boots offer the comfort of a knit but the sass of a boot. There are multitudes of boots to chose from but three hot trends are the casual boot with a knit layer, or a high heel boot with a knit leg warmer and a knit boot with sturdy soles. These boots are fun for your creative side but warm for those chilly days when you're trying to be functional and fashionable.
