Some of the benefits from yoga include increased elasticity for your spine, the skin becoming more firm, tension leaving your body, abdominal muscles strengthened, getting rid of double chin, toning flabby arm muscles, posture correction, and the prevention of dowager's hump (abnormal curving of the spine around the shoulder blades) that is caused by osteoporosis. Longer life may be the benefit from following the practice of yoga health program.
Yoga has a positive effect on the brain, glands, spine and your internal organs. Because of this positive effect on the glands and brain, practicing yoga will increase your vitality. The glands that are affected by yoga are the pituitary, thyroid, adrenal and sex glands. In addition, because yoga prevents premature ageing, you can enjoy a healthy sex life even as you grow older.
The blood vessels and nerves that supply blood to our eyes and ears pass through our neck. As we grow older, our neck muscles become a little stiffer so the vessels and nerves running through our neck become overworked. In return, this has a negative effect on our eyes and ears. Yoga postures and neck exercises will improve the blood flow once again to the eyes and ears.
Practicing yoga will also give you a better outlook on life. Your emotional state will be improved because yoga has such positive effects on the nervous system, which includes the brain. The results will be more energy to your body and brain to be more confident, creative, and a more positive outlook on life.
As you go from beginning yoga to more advances stretches and exercises, you may want to try the inverted postures. By practicing inverted poses, you will experience a natural face-lift by firming your facial muscles and reducing wrinkles. The inverted yoga poses also increase the blood supply to your hair and scalp. Because your neck muscles become more relaxed with yoga, the nourishment to your scalp will improve resulting in healthier hair.
Do not expect things to happen overnight. The need to practice yoga on a regular basis is important. Within a few weeks, your mental attitude and emotional state will improve. Moreover, within a few months your organs will start to feel rejuvenated.
If you want to add years to your life, while looking and feeling younger, buy a beginners yoga DVD or book and give yoga a second chance. I did and I feel great.
