Let us be honest for a moment. When it comes to staying young, many women are just lucky from a genetic perspective--remaining naturally youthful as they age. Then you have the rest of us, the regular women, who want to know the mysteries behind staying young. Well, there really are no mysteries, ladies! Follow these simple, but life-enhancing tips for staying young and get your goddess on.

Staying Young Means Less Stress & No Cigarettes

Nothing will age you faster than dealing with stress on a continuing basis; except of course smoking. Smoking is a habit you want to kick right now. The American Cancer Society provides an online quit-smoking guide to help you on the road to freedom from nicotine addiction.

On a long-term basis, stress can cause changes in your body and wreak havoc with your emotions as well. Staying young mentally or physically, cannot happen if you are constantly dealing with an overload of stress.

According to WebMd, stress can disturb your immune system and you may end up sick more often. Stress can also have an effect on your muscles, leaving you with lower back pain. Forget about staying young if you have coronary artery disease due in part to stress. Stress can lead to painful menstrual periods as well and that alone should prompt you to de-stress.

Stay Positive--Avoid Negative Friends & Family

Staying young for women, whether in heart, body or mind, means banding together with people of a positive nature. Chronically negative friends and family are terrible energy zappers. Constant contact with negative people wears you down and you will be aging before you know what hit you. Stay clear (as much as possible) of those who leave you feeling emotionally exhausted with their complaining over their unhappy lot in life.

If you want to stay young, one of the best tips is to associate with friends and family who have goals (big and small) that keep them motivated. Friends and family, who look to the future instead of being stuck in the past, will keep you on your toes and seeking out new possibilities for yourself in life as well.

In addition, family and friends who are active in life will motivate you to stay active, too. Sitting around the house watching TV all the time is a huge waste of precious time, so get out and explore the world. Tips for staying young will never include being a couch potato.

Exercise Mind and Body

Gather your women friends and register for a creative writing class at the local community college, learn to paint or pull together a weekly walking group. Sign up for dance lessons, join a theatre group or volunteer to head a worthy cause in your area. Plant and care for a garden in your town or city and dedicate it to the memory of a loved-one. Gardening is fabulous exercise! Staying young is about exercising the mind as much as it is about exercising the body.

Stay Young in Mind & Body by Eating Right

A diet high in fat not only leaves you lacking the energy to be active, it can also cause you to feel depressed, according to an article in "Psychology Today." However, many professionals believe that good fat (omega-3) found in fish, may actually boost your brainpower in the memory department. It may also help to keep you motivated in life as well.

Among the obvious tips for staying young for women is to eat healthier and lighter meals. Adding more vegetables and fruit and less fat and saturated fat is the smart route to take. No woman is going to eat a gargantuan, greasy burger and fries and expect to have the energy to run a marathon. Eating lighter fare will help you to stay young and maintain a healthy energy level.
