Stealing MySpace Layouts and Other Dirty Secrets

Beginners Guide to Myspace Tools and Tricks

Donna Porter
If stealing is a form of flattery then there are many gracious people on MySpace. But not everyone is privy to the dirty tricks behind Myspace layouts. After this article you will be. There are Web sites dedicated to copying MySpace layouts and sharing them with the public. To steal a custom Myspace layout is to steal work from the creator of the Myspace layout. It is not the same as just copying some basic formatting.

The best approach, rather than to outright steal MySpace layouts, is to contact and compliment the owner of the coveted site. Inquire if it is in the public domain or if you can copy all or part of their layout code - perhaps offering credit to the Myspace layout artist. Flattery goes a long way at MySpace and the site owner may agree to let you use their material, or a customized version of it. If not move on, there are many more to be found. If you get caught stealing you could potentially lose a lot of "friends" and get some bad press.

To Steal (or Not To Steal) Myspace Tools:
Otherwise, and for those who don't plain to get caught, here are some right, and not so right, Web sites that make it easy to get the MySpace layouts you want. Just remember the consequences of crossing the intellectual property line.

MySpace Layout Stealer
Dodank.com, home of the "MySpace Layout Stealer" has many nice MySpace layouts, from celebrities to Asian art, which are easy to copy and paste into your own MySpace site. If you want to copy someone's MySpace layout, with permission say, you simply enter the user ID (which is explained) and click "Steal Layout" and you have the MySpace layout code to paste in your "About Me" page. http://www.dodank.com/myspace-layout-stealer.php

MySpace Whore Me and More
FreeCodeSource.com offers a MySpace layout stealer but with more MySpace layout tools and dirty tricks to go with it. Also, you can view your MySpace layout live before applying the design. Another interesting MySpace layout generator enables users to turn pictures into text, while retaining fair picture quality, think Monet. Maybe this is useful to spam the search engines or to add (who knows what) pictures on sites where you otherwise can not. Then the ever popular, and I don't know why, "Whore me" code -- I was afraid to click on it but I know it is in high demand.

Spy on MySpace Visitors
Whosonmyspace.com: The free "Who's on Myspace tracker" is used to track everyone that visits your profile. Find out if someone creepy is stalking or snooping on you or if your prospective love interest has any real interest. The Myspace visitor data also includes location, based on Geo-IP (your computer connection) address. The downside is that you must register to access the data and hence, may receive e-mail from the Site or third parties.

Sneaky and Scary Shareware
Feedownloads.com offers a variety of devious shareware products for MySpace enthusiasts. Use at your own risk, especially the spam generators. There is a program called BeNetSafe that sounds useful, as it allows you to locate and change your child's profile. (Use with caution!) And who can resist a program to allow you to surf from work when there is nothing better to do? Some of the MySpace tools you will find are:

Get Many MySpace Friends (aka spam)
Business / Site Promotion (aka professional spam)
Get Past a Firewall (future employment not guaranteed)
Locate Your Child's MySpace Profile (not for those with heart problems and seizure disorders)

Sex Sells -- Get a Pro
Myprofilepimp.com - If you are having a difficult time getting visitors, do what Myspace layout pros do and bare your bod. Better yet, for your visitors' sake, have a professional do it. With well designed MySpace layouts, in a variety of categories from Playboy to Movies, get a motif that is right for you and your public.

MySpace, Wholesome?
As you can see, MySpace is not always about real friends, real content, nor is it always a real nice place to be at times. Myspace is the virtual equivalent of Las Vegas, Detroit and Daytona Beach combined and remixed. Yet like these cities, MySpace is a virtual place that somehow works for some of its citizens. Others prefer to just be tourists and the rest prefer to stay far away. For some wholesome Myspace layouts and tools see: http://www.spaceoffaith.com/

  • Find a Myspace layout you like? In seconds it can be yours.
  • Artwork, content and individually created layouts are intellectual property.
  • Beginners can have a professional Myspace layout.
Google has agreed to pay Fox 900 million dollars over the next three years for exclusivity to provide the search and text ads on all Fox properties, most notably Myspace. Despite rumors, I don't think Myspace is headed downhill.

I don't understand how freecodesource.com is a dirty trick or how it makes you a thief. I was under the impression that using this site was accepted and legal.

I love tweaking my MySpace page, but I don't like the whole stealing a layout thing. I thought about it before, but I like being a little more original than that.
