Step Brothers the Movie

Lakeeya Blue
Friday, once again, we will be graced with a film starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. The two will try to reignite the box office magic that they once had. This time, director/co-writer Adam McKay is behind the reigns on this one. McKay is the director behind Talladega Nights, Anchorman and was a writer for SNL for 12 years. With McKay and Ferrell writing the screenplay together, this is sure to be, if nothing else, a good comedic distraction for an hour and a half of your life.

The plot is the story of two 40-year-old men, Brennan (Ferrell) and Dale (Reilly) who become stepbrothers. This would not be a big deal except both men still live with their respective parent. This is where the story and laughs begin. Soon the two men learn that their parents are selling the house, and they have to grow up and get jobs. More than likely, the films best portions will be the dialogues between Ferrell and Reilly and not necessarily the plot as a whole.

All are looking to see how well the film will do in theatres as Ferrell's last movie, Semi-Pro fell flat with just about everyone. It seems with Ferrell movies it is either a hit or a miss. Will this be another Bewitched or Stranger Than Fiction in the eyes of his audience? Or will he win everyone over like he did in Old School, Talladega Nights or Zoolander?

After this film some are hoping, As I am as well, that Reilly will do a few more serious roles. Don't get me wrong, Reilly in the comedic roles is genius, but he is so much more. Remember The Good Girl, The Aviator, or The Gangs of New York? He plays the role of a 'serious' actor just as well, if not better. Though I love the combination of Ferrell and Reilly, I miss the old Reilly. Maybe in one of his future films like 9 with Elijah Wood and Jennifer Connelly my wish will come true.

As both a Ferrell and Reilly fan, I am hoping this will be one of their better works together. I will be there in the line of moviegoers to see the film Friday hoping for a gut-busting entertaining film.
