Step by Step Instructions to Lace Your Lafuma Zero Gravity Chair

Following is a step by step instruction with photos on how to lace a Lafuma zero gravity chair. These instructions can also be used with any other zero gravity chair.

Replacement laces can be ordered online from several sources. I ordered mine from Lafumafurniture.com . The new laces are thicker and do not require double lacing; however, the instructions were not updated.

Step One

Remove the laces from one side of your chair. See photo #1

Step Two

Your kit has four laces. The two short laces are for the back and the two longer laces are for the seat. Take one of the longer laces and start at bottom of the seat. Lace it through the first grommet then through the chair loop, (See photo #2) The lacing should be pulled taught but not tight to the chair frame. Follow this pattern up to grommet #9 which will be doubled. To double a loop, first make a single loop and next pull hard on that single loop while threading the second loop. (See photo#3)

Step Three

Take a shorter lace and start at the bottom of the back. The first loop will be doubled as well as the fifth loop. This will give you added lumbar support. If you do not want the extra support skip doubling the fifth loop. (See photo #4)

Step Four

Repeat the process on the other side.

Step Five

My wife and I are short and our ankles hit the bar on the bottom so I put a swim doodle on the bottom bar for comfort. Cut the swim doodle to the length of the bar and make a slit lengthwise. (See photo # 5) Slide the swim doodle on the bar and secure with water proof duct tape.

Your chair is now ready for years of comfortable relaxation
