The classic pompadour hairstyle is back in style. You can create a pompadour hairstyle for yourself with the following step-by-step instructions. A pompadour hairstyle is a great way to give you that pin-up girl look and draw compliments you'll love.

For those asking what is a pompadour hairstyle? A pompadour is popular vintage hairstyle from the 1950's that features a sculpted curl-like shape of hair on the top front of the head, using the bang section of your hair. The pompadour is named for Madame de Pompadour, a member of the French court and the chief mistress of Louis XV in the mid-1750's. Men are traditionally known to wear this hairstyle, but women wear their hair in a pompadour style as well.

Here are step-by-step instructions for creating a pompadour hairstyle. It only takes a few minutes and materials to create this style for your hair.

First you'll need your materials. Here are the things you need to style your pin up girl pompadour- a blow dryer, a comb, a few bobby pins, holding hairspray and a hair tie. The longer your bangs are the better your pompadour will turn out. Your hair should be long enough to touch your nose or else it won't be full enough.

The next step in creating your pompadour, after you've gathered your hairstyling materials, is to part a section off for your bangs. Wet your bangs until it's soaked. Then blow dry the hair.

Use your comb, preferably a fine tooth comb to tease the back two-thirds of your bangs until they're standing straight up. Depending on how thick your hair is will dictate how long it'll take you to tease your hair with the comb. Don't tease the very front of your bangs.

Now, take all of your bangs and twist the hair. Then push the pompadour forward to increase its size. You're still holding on to the twist while pushing it. Secure the pomp in place with a couple of bobby pins placed against your scalp. Style and shape the pompadour to your liking. Use holding hairspray to hold your pompadour hairstyle in place.
