Stephen Grant Confesses to Being Nude While He Choked His Wife Do Death

On March 4, 2007, Stephen Grant confessed to killing his wife, from his hospital bed. Today, April 13, the authorities released the copy of his confession to the public. The confession print is almost 200 pages long and contains the horrific details of Stephen Grants actions on February 9, 2007 and the following weeks up to the day he was finally arrested and taken into custody.

In the confession, Stephen Grant admits to choking his wife to death while he was naked. Grant said, in his confession, that when his wife, Tara, informed him that she would be returning to her job a day earlier than usual, he grabbed her wrist and told her that they needed to talk about the situation. Tara, Stephen Grant reported, slapped him at which time he says he retaliated by hitting her back. Tara then fell to the floor, hitting her head. Grant then said that his wife told him she was going to leave him and take the children, leaving him homeless.

At that point, Stephen Grant said, he lost control and began choking Tara until it was too late for him to stop. Grant said he wrapped a belt around her neck and pulled her body down the steps to the garage. During this time, the Grant's two small children were in the house, asleep. The Grant's nanny was out with a friend at the time of the murder, but returned to the house later that night, according to the information collected during the confession. According to Stephen Grant, the nanny also spent the night with him in his bedroom.

Stephen Grant went on to tell police his entire thought process during the next few hours up to the day they caught him in a state park in Upper Michigan. His confession tells of the ways he used to transport Tara Grants body to his fathers place of business and how he used broken band saw blades to dismember his wife's body.

After he cut up the body of his wife, Stephen Grant said he transported the body to Stoney Creek Metro Park, near their home. He buried the body parts in the snow. The confession goes on to say that there were times he became nervous about where he placed the torso of his wife. He moved it more than once, using a child's sled to take it to the park, his wife's car to take it from the park to his father's business, and then finally placing his wife's torso in a rubber container and returning it to their home and placing the container in the garage. Stephen Grant set appointment with local TV news reporters for interviews, requesting that they meet with him in his garage, up until and including the day the police finally obtained a warrant to search the Grant's home.

The confession includes many more details, and gives a clear snapshot of the workings of the mind of Stephen Grant. Some of the details contained in the confession make it difficult to understand the thought process that a person goes through when attempting to hide their actions.

The entire Stephen Grant confession is available for the public to read on WDIV Detroit's website.
