Stepping into the Vibration of Life

Raks Al Hayat - the Dance of Life

All life vibrates. Everything living moves. All colors and sounds vibrate to a frequency Many of these frequencies were recorded in ancient Egypt by Hermes Trismegistus. Some of the designs on ancient structures are actually the patterns of sound vibrations and when those notes are played they are music. Today, physics students study the frequency at which everything moves. Nothings rests. In this vibration is a natural cycling process of nature.

Everything in creation vibrates, this includes both ends of the frequency spectrum, which causes destruction when that vibration is interrupted. Often termed Polarity or Polar Opposites, good/bad, saintly/demonic, rich/poor, abuse/honor, Yin/Yang, male/female. It would be true to say that we all sit within the darker denser vibrations in one way or another, and that none are totally isolated from such energies. However, it is also true to say that the spiritual, emotion, mental and physical journey is to transcend the darker vibrations, and to embrace the higher tones of joy, happiness, love and freedom as an expression of one's experience. The predominant vibration of one's resonant frequency is based on the power of their thought form; changing thought form will change vibration. It is often said that light cannot shine without the dark, from which it comes.

Energy comes from vibration. Energy can not be created of destroyed. It can be squash or depressed. Failure or depressed thinking does not limit the energy, it just limits our ability to access and use the energy. Using energy effectively is what life is all about. You can learn to direct your energy and move through the areas that are stuck.

Humans beings are a superior life form because the are able to distribute and direct energy. The challenge for most, because energy will flow through us whether we direct it or not. It can be moved and tapped into. Being in the flow helps to direct more energy.

Dancers know how to step into the vibration. When the dancer shimmies she awakens the life forces and moves her energy. As the energy shifts through the body it changes the brain chemistry and creates new pathways in the brain. Exercise helps restore lost brain functioning New scientific studies show this to be especially beneficial for Alzheimer's patients.

Dance functions to encourage aerobic activity, stretching, strengthening, stimulates executive functionality and increases the IQ.

The active release endorphins and increase a sense of well being and connectedness. The emotional regulation is increased when practiced in front of a mirror, The connectedness is increased when practiced in a group.

There are many health benefits of dance.

There is a bio-psycho-social model for disease. It measures how the individual functions at a biological, psychological and social level. We know that dancing benefits all these areas, and should benefit many disease processes. But how do we measure the changes?

British philosopher John Locke observed that "A sound body is a short, but full description of a happy state in this world." Three hundred years later science is learning that physical activity affects brains chemistry and our moods. Science has known for some time that exercise produces and "endorphin high." More recently science is documenting that regular exercise improves the mood, decreases anxiety, improves sleep, improves resilience in the face of stress and raises self-esteem. These benefits don't just come from the inches lost around your waist. Rather, they come from chemical changes that go on in your brain. Strenuous exercise can double the blood volume in the brain and oxygen to the brain. Your brain needs blood to carry oxygen in order to operate.

We know that dance does more than build muscles and help prevent heart disease. But, there is new evidence that it also boosts brain power and offers hopes in the battle of Alzheimer's. The documentation that those who maintain the fittest bodies have the fittest brains and are more resistance to disease, especially autoimmune diseases. Dance helps increase the temporal and prefrontal cortices to improve memory, multi-tasking , planning and attention skills. Dance helps the older brain to form new interconnections and work faster. The benefits go beyond the physical aspects because we fell better about ourselves. Since dance is often done in a group setting it also promotes more social function. This helps to starve off symptoms of Alzheimer's, ADHD and other cognitive disorders. Type 2 diabetes occurs less often in those with cardio respiratory fitness.

Dance is a pretty good antidepressant, too. Some studies indicate it may be biologically equivalent to some medications When we are inactive the hippocampus, the part of the brain that regulates mood, gets smaller. Dance spurs new nerve growing in this area and relieves and prevents depression.

Just knowing what dance will do for you will not make you put down the remote and put on your hips scarf and finger cymbals. You still need motivation, but where does that come from? Information that increased activity is good for you is not simply enough to improve motivation. Ritual is the best way to change a behavior. We replace one behavior with a new one. But Dr. William Glasser, in his book Positive Addiction cites that you can develop motivation by doing activity at the same time every day...The only way to break old habits is to develop new ones and exercise becomes a habits more easily if it involves and activity you enjoy. There is a priming effect. After a while it gets easier and people continue they habit because they enjoy the activity.

Studies indicate this is of importance to women with breast cancer. Exercise lowers the risk of estrogen related tumors. Those who exercise 30 minutes ad day dramatically decrease the odds of another tumor.

Weight bearing exercise decreases the risks of osteoporosis. This is even more important for those who undergo chemotherapy because aromatase inhibitors decrease estrogen. Estrogen loss speeds up bone loss. Walk and dancing slow that loss. .New studies also indicate that exercise can reduce the symptoms of lymph edema if it is approached gradually. Arm extension and finger cymbal work would seem a natural way to aid in lymph drainage. (An may reduce carpal tunnel.)

Science has not been able to document the most effective was to promoted activity and a healthy life style. But the old idea about cardio work is changing in favor of more muscle building activity. The more muscle you develop the more calories you burn. For every hour you are moving you can expect to add two hours to your life. Why not spend these hours doing what you love. Dance!.

(I have discovered that massage is like dancing on in someone else's skin...I get the benefits...I am reminded of a line from Richard Bach in Jonathan Livingston Seagull: Giving and Receiving as the same.. The person who may not be able to exert the energy to dance get the benefits of passive exercise and I get the beta benefits of stress reduction with them.)

"Much of Oriental philosophy is more sane than anything the West has produced." (Gregory Bateston.) I is a great tragedy of contemporary Western Society that we have lost the ability to experience the Tran formative power of ecstasy and joy." (Robert A. Johnson ) We seek for something out side of ourselves to fix us. We seek a doctor to give us a pill to correct the problem while we continue to practice all of the causes of our malaise. If we were to practice some oriental concepts we would actually change the vibrations and no longer need many of the pills that enable the unhealthy life style.

"Of what is our bodies made? It is made of emptiness and rhythm. At he ultimate heart of the body, at the heart of the world, there is no solidity. Once again, there in only the dance." (George Leonard.) "The human body is a ponderous thing " (Ralph Strauch.)

Midwifes are returning to many ancient Oriental concepts. To be born is to be embodied. At the moment we begin to vibrate at our own frequency. The adjustment is has but the infant is sooth is rocking, a very symbiotic vibration.

We must all comes to terms with our embodiment. If we fail to do so we are cutting off our vibrations of life. When we embrace our body we cease to be enemies with the world and we can expand beyond our physical boundaries and realized the existence of on single Body. We are all pearls on a string.

"As our crust of the of the outer nature cracks, as the walls of separation break down, the inner lights gets through, the inner fire burns in the heart, the substance of nature and the stuff of consciousness refine a greater subtlety and purity...all is purified, set right, the whole nature harmonized, modulated is the psychic key, put in spiritual order." (Sri Aurobino)

We become the true Alchemist when we transform a small segment of the cosmos. When we change the vibration we send transformation through the universe it ripples like a stone in the pond. A science and physics continue to discover the least of actions can change the whole of our existence. Did you know that a butterfly flapping it's wings in south America can change the direction of a hurricane on another hemisphere?

If you are our of your body, you need a substitute for feeling grounded. Western society spends it's time running from the somatic experience. We use addictive compulsive behaviors to avoid being in touch with our true experience. We neglect our emotional reality and the real source of nourishment for our bodies and well-being.

There are many way to expand energy. But, if man is to survive we must remember the heartbeat of Mother Earth and forget or cultural limitations. We must celebrate our rhythms with our brothers and sisters through dancing, stretching and remembering the self that is beyond our limitations.
