Steps to Follow when You Are Selling Handmade Jewelry

Ariana R. Cherry-Shearer
Creating and designing your own handmade jewelry can be a lot of fun. There's so many different beads you can choose from such as lampwork beads, glass beads, swarvoski crystals, metal beads, Thai silver, Bali silver, and other accessories as well.

Sometimes once we have created our handmade designs, it's hard to part with them. But a great way to earn some extra money from home is selling the handmade jewelry that you have created. It might seem overwhelming at first when trying to find places to sell your handmade jewelry, but once your business gets going and you have a respectable client list, it makes the business run more smoothly.

Below are some easy steps that you can follow to start your journey of selling handmade jewelry.

Have some business cards made up. These can be printed from your own personal home computer, or you can try websites such as www.vistaprint.com. They offer 250 business cards for free, and you only have to pay for the shipping and handling charges.

Present your jewelry in a professional yet fashionable way. You can place your handmade jewelry in clear packaging, or have jewelry displays that can be set up quickly and easily. Also when you are out promoting your jewelry and your business, it would be professional to dress up a bit too. Perhaps you could find a nice business suit, a casual dress, or a dressy skirt outfit. It's important to have a nice appearance while you present your jewelry so that you appear to be professional and show that you care about your business.

Call ahead of time, so that it isn't a surprise when you enter with your handmade jewelry showcase. This way, the business was expecting you, and they can schedule around their stores hours when they might not be as busy.

Begin presenting your jewelry. You could approach your local craft or tourist shops, retail and apparel stores, gift shops, beauty salons, and even
maybe the local coffee shop if there is one present in your area. Don't be disappointed if somebody tells you no at the beginning. There will be some may
not be interested, but don't let it set you back in your business approaches. Kindly tell the business thank you and still leave your business card behind in
case they might want to call you back at another time.

Sell your Jewelry on the Internet. There is a lot more competition, and it also can seem overwhelming. Start out by designing your own website or having
someone design it for you. Or you can open up your own web-store where you can personalize it on your own. Some places that you can open up your own
craft shops online are at www.etsy.com, or www.ebay.com At Etsy.com, you can add your products for only 20 cents each. You might still have to do some
of your own marketing, but it's affordable when you are beginning your business on a low budget. If you choose Ebay, you hardly have to any marketing at
all. Ebay is home to millions of visitors each day. You can decide the price that you would like to start your auction at, and build up a customer base very
easy. Ebay is a great place to start if you are looking for your first sale.

Have home jewelry party, where you present your jewelry to visitors who come to your home to shop. You may have a jewelry display put up along with
some small snacks, and guests can come shop at their own convenience.

Approach local school groups for fundraisers. Students and teachers could earn money by selling your jewelry to their friends and family. In return, they
earn a percentage of the sales so that they could raise money for a field trip or something special for their school.

REMEMBER: Starting out a new business is a lot of hard work, but it can also be very rewarding. It may be overwhelming, or sometimes seem
disappointing at first, but once you have some clients, and people begin to know you by name, your business will flow more easily. Selling handmade
jewelry is a lot of fun, and it's a wonderful feeling to know that you might have brightened somebody's day with a colorful and pretty piece of jewelry.

If you follow some of these helpful pointers and steps, it should make your process in selling handmade jewelry easier for you and your business. It's always sometimes stressful and scary when starting a new home business, but if you take one small step at a time towards your goal, anything is possible no matter what you do.

It was a little helpful, I was thinking of etsy and was wondering if there was any other place other than etsy and ebay.
