Steve Brady Character Details for Sex and the City 2

A Background for Steve Brady

Ashley Mott
The character of Steve Brady first appeared in an episode of Sex and the City on July 25, 1999 according to imdb.com. The episode was titled "The Man, the Myth, the Viagra" and provided the starting point for a character still present in the Sex and the City Universe.

Steve Brady's first Sex and the city moment was centered around being a somewhat boastful bartender at a moment when Miranda needed a little pick me up. After that mission was accomplished, Steve went on to face testicular cancer, an unexpected pregnancy with Miranda, and opened his own bar within the scope of the Sex and the City TV series.

In the first Sex and the City movie, the character of Steve Brady was largely defined by his separation from Miranda. Near the beginning of the movie, the audience is introduced to the idea that Miranda is a bit preoccupied with the responsibility of being a lawyer, wife, and mother and has let being a wife slide to the back burner. During this time of being somewhat neglected as a lover, Steve had an inconsequential one night stand, but Miranda could not accept this and left their home in Brooklyn for Manhattan. The end of the movie does find the two of them back together. With this ending to the Steve Brady character in Sex and the City, the film could really go a few ways.

Steve and Miranda reestablished.

The relationship of Steve and Miranda may be firmly reestablished within the Sex and the City 2 film with both people having to readjust to being part of each other's lives after six months apart. New habits develop in such a time period and the obvious plot would highlight this difference.

Steve and Miranda culture clash.

Miranda vented a lot of steam about having given up a lot of things to live with Steve in Brooklyn which could lead to some stumbling blocks as their relationship takes off again. This is a plotline that has been heavily explored within some episodes of the Sex and the City series and that would be easily converted to the big screen.

Steve Brady cancer.

For a bit of heartbreak, Sex and the City 2 could have Steve's cancer return. It would add a serious edge to the movie and, if fatal, would provide a heavy dose of reality to the main characters in terms of the own mortality.

These three plotlines could all be used to further the Steve Brady character, but only time will tell what Sex and the City 2 has in store!
