Steve Harvey's Ex-Wife, Mary Lee Shackelford, Gagged by Chocolate on Valentines Day
Battle of the Big Mouths: The Battle Between Steve Harvey and His Ex-Wife, Mary Lee Shackelford, Rages On
Mary Lee Shackelford accused him of cheating on her in her face, being a bad husband, being a bad father, leaving her broke and penniless and stealing their son away from her. Well, as for the penniless part, I can't sympathize because all women, no matter who they marry, should keep themselves in a position to be self-supporting and independant.
As far as I'm concerned, any woman that is 100% dependant on any man is setting herself up for a great fall if he bails on her. Always be able to take care of yourself and your kids, if you have any. While you may not be able to provide the lifestyle you may have had with the man, simply be able to provide for you and yours. So on that one, I can't cosign. No man should be able to leave a woman "penniless", if she is healthy and capable of functioning and if that happens then that is her fault. As far as being too traumatizied to deal with life because of the man, that is also the woman's fault. If you let a man break your heart and then take your mind and soul with it, then that's on you.
As far as all the rest of it, the truth will come to light eventually and if it doesn't, that's between her and Steve Harvey. I'm not sure what her point was when she blasted their personal beeswax all over the internet, whether it was the truth or a lie. Making videos about her private issues will only make her seem unstable, petty and desperate, if she has to appear before a court of law for the sake of money or of having custody of their son returned to her.
If some injustice was done to Mary Lee Shackelford during the marriage or she had to endure any type of abuse, then I hope that justice will be done, but for now she's wallowing in loserville and looking like an ant going against a raging bull.
I may sound cold and unfeeling to Mary Lee Shackelford's plight, but having once been in the marriage from hell myself, I got over it, got out of it, went on about my business, took care of me and mine, excelled and achieved much. I was not trying to let a bad marriage or a bad man break my stride. Life is too short and valuable for all of that. A smart woman finds strength in adversity, challenges in obstacles and always has a Plan A, a Plan B and a Plan C just in case. Love and marriage are beautiful and all that and money is great, but a lady with a brain should always have an escape route and an emergency plan.
According to TMZ.com, her ex-husband, Steve Harvey sent her one hell of a Valentine's Day gift. He sent her a box of chocolates and inside was a gag order from the court, which basically translates into one big "Oh, shut up!". Wow, that's cold, but Steve is fighting fire with fire and with the kind of dough he has, unfortunately, it looks like Mary Lee Shackelford is a match and he's an inferno.
That was cold, Steve, real cold.
Good luck with this, Mary. You're gonna need it, sister! But damn, Steve's playing hardball for real!

Post a CommentNo, I don't know her personally, but I know of her situation and have been through one that may have even be worse. It happened. It's over. I landed on my feet. Survived. Achieved. Excelled. Forgave. Worked hard and made something of myself with 3 sons and no support system on any level, so I don't need to know Mary personally. I know life and I know what a woman goes through in these situations. Thank you very much and if you know her personally, why don't you reach out to help her if you have not already. Feeling sorry for yourself and worrying about what some man is doing without you or didn't do for you is counter-productive. I feel her pain...trust me, but as a writer, just doing my job. If you know Mary, then tell her that Scarlet Henderson said that as a black woman she has strength that she can't even see right now. Tell her to channel the stamina, strength, endurance and resilience of our goddess ancestors. If I can land on my feet, she can too!
Do not know mary personally, however i do know of her in real life. Mary is not the type who would bring things out for the world the view about her life. Mary is hurting anyone can see that. I am a witness, that way before steve harvey mary was a person that was admired by many. The way she presented herself was just to the max. If she didnt have but a dollar until payday, you wouldnt have known.. Steve i do not know at all, only through whats on t.v. I will say that steve protray himself as a do the right thing type of guy? If so i feel he should talk to mary and offer her what ever type of assistance she is seeking from him. I do know that with marriage in then, divorce there are lots to consider but everyone deserves closure. Steve saw mary working at the department store and he knew that this lady could help him get to where he wanted to be. She may have received a small settlement, five years ago. Out of sixteen, seventeen years of marriage, and they have a child together.
