Steve Jobs died at the age of 56. This disease doesn't care how much money you make, so how can you financially plan for Cancer? It can strike at any time, whether you live in a sterile mansion or tenement squalor. In this, all men, women and children are created equal.
After being saddened by so many losses, I feel the need to try and financially plan for Cancer. It runs in my family. If you look hard enough, you'll find it runs in the families of many. All we can do, monetary wise, is use any available funds on what I call the "Three C's of Cancer Costs"- care, concern and cooperation.
Care refers to preventative healthcare. Do this even if it means swallowing your pride and going to the county hospital or other low cost establishment in your area. It's cheaper than fighting Cancer.
Concern means actually concerning yourself with your own health. Even with a small grocery budget, buy the generic canned vegetables or grow your own in pots.
Cooperation stands for everyone working to end this horrible disease. Donate if you can, volunteer if you can't. One person may not be able to financially plan for Cancer but maybe, if we ban together, we all can.
