Spokesman, Don Aaron said, "The investigation is going to be conducted by the police department's centralized homicide unit. Those detectives have assembled here at the scene. The condominium still has to be processed. There is a lot of work yet to be done. It's going to take many hours to process the scene. I don't have any answers for you now as to what's happened, who's responsible, what the circumstances are."
No arrests have been made at this time. Investigators are currently questioning visitors to the condo complex, in order to collect any information that could be helpful to the investigation.
Former teammate, Derrick Mason described Steve McNair as a fun person who was always smiling. "He was a great player, great man, and a generous person", Mason told ESPN.
Titans' owner Bud Adams Jr. released the following statement on the Titan's web site:
"We are saddened and shocked to hear the news of Steve McNair's passing today. He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they deal with his untimely passing."
McNair spent 11 years as the quarterback for the Tennessee Titans. Where he led the team to the Super Bowl after defeating the Buffalo Bills in the game best known as the "Music City Miracle". They lost the Super Bowl that year to the Rams, but it was a memorable season for the players and all the Titan fans.
His last 2 years in the NFL were spent as the quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens. McNair was a 3-time Pro bowler and the Co-AP MVP in 2003.
As a Tennessean, and a Titan fan, I can tell you that Steve McNair was revered for leading the Tennessee Titans to the Super Bowl, when they were still such a young team.
Steve McNair leaves behind his wife Mechelle, and four sons: Steve Junior, Steven, Trenton, and Tyler.
RIP Steve McNair
