Steve McNair is one of 3 NFL quarterbacks (along with Steve Young and Fran Tarkington) to throw for over 30,000 yards and rush for 3,500 yards. McNair played 13 seasons with the Titans and Ravens, leading the Titans to a Super Bowl loss to the Rams. McNair completed 2,733 of 4,544 passes for 31,304 yards with 174 touchdown passes in his career.
Stave McNair was 36 years old when found shot to death in a Tennessee condo complex. His NFL career was cut short by some injures he suffered. McNair came too late to be one of the pioneer African American Quarterbacks but he did help expand the foothold established by earlier players.
Early in his career with the Titans he was known as a scrambling quarterback. But that changed as he learned the game and as injures slowed him down. By the time of his retirement from the Ravens, he was a solid veteran pocket passer with a steadying presence in the locker room and on the field. Steve McNair found dead of a gunshot wound in Nashville Tennessee at the age of 36.
This will really stun the Nashville sports community as the Titans are still relatively young in the town, after being the Houston Oilers in another lifetime. Despite McNair going to the Ravens he was still much loved by Tennessee Titans football fans. McNair actually started his career as a Houston Oiler.
I find it odd that at first it was listed as a murder suicide then changed to a double homicide. I guess in the early moments of an investigation things can be confusing. I can only hope the person who shot and killed McNair and the woman are quickly brought to justice. According to his foundation website McNair is married but I have seen no reports that the murdered woman is his wife. I really hope this is an innocent situation regarding the female found murdered with Steve McNair. I won't speculate on what he was doing there with her until there is more information. Rest in peace Steve "Air' McNair.

Post a CommentYes, what tragic news. Very nicely written.
Very well written.
So sad very nicely done!
well written randy
absolutely stunned by this. what a horrific story.
Now it looks like the woman killed McNair then herself.
The first persons I would check out would be 1. A former boyfriend or husband (or current) for the woman 2. A former girlfriend or wife (or current) of the man 3. A drug contact if applicable.
What a very tragic story. My condolences to the family.
Great reporting!
RIP to the 'Air'! What a shock!
