Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi: A Keith Norfleet Connection?

What is Keith Norfleet's Bizarre Connection to the Deaths of Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi? or is There One at All?

Saul Relative
Keith Norfleet, the ex-boyfriend of slain Sahel Kazemi, girlfriend of also slain former NFL quarterback Steve McNair, has been doing himself absolutely no favors by talking to the press and posting things on his MySpace page. Keith Norfleet, who has admitted that he wanted to rekindle his romance with Sahel Kazemi, should learn the better part of valor. And even if he has not been read his Miranda rights, he should know that things he says (or writes, or records in any way) will be used against him (if necessary).

Take for instance his interview in The Tennessean on Saturday. Keith Norfleet talked about his ongoing relationship with Sahel Kazemi, even though the young woman was dating Steve McNair. He remained close, he said, because he wanted her back as his girlfriend. He said he was worried about Steve McNair as a boyfriend, because Steve McNair was a married man.

Sahel Kazemi and Keith Norfleet broke up about five months ago. Kazemi began dating Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair soon afterward, having met him at Dave & Buster's Grand Sports Cafe, where she worked as a waitress.

Norfleet told The Tennessean that he had been speaking to Sahel Kazemi more frequently in the past several weeks and that she talked of breaking up with McNair. He said she even came to his apartment and banged on his door early Saturday morning, but she left before he could get to the door and answer it. He said he spent Saturday afternoon searching for her and wondering if the girl that had been killed alongside Steve McNair had been Sahel Kazemi.

It was.

Keith Norfleet said, "She is the sweetest girl, and she did not deserve this. He was making her believe they were going to be together and everything would be perfect."

Norfleet places Sahel Kazemi at his place early Saturday morning. Witnesses place Steve McNair at bars until around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Wayne Neely, Steve McNair's longtime friend, found the bodies of McNair and Sahel Kazemi at around 7:00 a.m. when he let himself into the downtown Nashville condominium where they were killed. Sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., Steve McNair arrived at the condominium and he and Sahel Kazemi were shot and killed. McNair's death was ruled a homicide Sunday. Kazemi's death was still unclassified, although many speculate she shot herself after shooting McNair, because a handgun was found underneath her body.

However, Nashville Police are waiting for ballistics and forensics tests to give them a clearer picture of what may have occurred.

But Keith Norfleet did not help himself by stating that he had had near contact or knew of Sahel Kazemi's whereabouts shortly before her death.

Nor does it help the 23-year-old that just below his name on his MySpace page reads: "never let anyone or anything come in between you and the one you love because when you do you lose everything".

In addition, his playlist on MySpace begins with "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5 and "Best I Ever Had" by Drake. The most disturbing inclusion, though, might be "Everybody Knows" by John Legend. The lovesick words are a little haunting: "I still can't believe you found somebody new/ But I wish you the best/ I guess."

Of course, these things are circumstantial at best and may simply be the words and self-pitying tunes of a love-struck young man who had lost his girl, a person he had been dating for four years.

And, of course, people who see these things also see them through the lens of two deaths that have left a lot of questions unanswered. So Keith Norfleet's seemingly bizarre admissions to The Tennessean and the things found on his MySpace page may mean absolutely nothing.

But if the ballistics report and other forensics reports the Nashville Police are waiting for come back and point to an outside actor, a third party, Keith Norfleet might well have wished he'd never acted the lovesick cuckold and put that quote on his MySpace page. He might just wish he could take back some of those words said to The Tennessean.

Because when Nashville Police spokesperson Don Aaron said Saturday night during a press conference that they weren't then looking for suspects, that does not mean that the Nashville Police did not already have suspects. Taking for granted that Aaron meant that it was an apparent homicide-suicide might have been a mistake investigators were hoping a suspect might make and subsequently do something that points the finger of suspicion in their direction.

Perhaps.

But maybe the death scene was exactly what it appeared to be: A young Sahel Kazemi, for whatever desperate and/or frustrated reason, took the life of her famous boyfriend, Steve McNair, then took her own life. If gunshot residue, fingerprints, and ballistics reports point in that direction, it might not stop the conspiracy theorists from thinking that Keith Norfleet or others may have had a hand in the death of Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi, but they certainly will go a long way to closing the case as a homicide-suicide.

    player
A male who is skilled at manipulating ("playing") others, and especially at seducing women by pretending to care about them, when in reality they are only interested in sex. Possibly derived from the phrases "play him for a fool", or "play him like a violin". The term was popularized by hip-hop culture, but was commonly recognized among urban American blacks by the 1970s.

A certain class of low-rent, slack-jawed fuckups has decided that backstabbing and misogyny are totally radical, so the word is sometimes used as a compliment or term of endearment between male friends, as in the greeting "what's up, player?".
Gina thought she had found the love of her life when she met Sean, but after she found out he had slept with three of her best friends, she realized that he was nothing but a player.

It sounds like the perfect description for McNair's behavior.

Those of you throwing stones need to look in the mirror. McNair's wife was a victim but hardly laughing herself all the way to the bank a suggested.

See Disgusted's post...very much in line with this tragic drama. Anbd who is to say the ex-boyfriend didn't contribute to her mind set by his conversations with her....there were enablers on both sides!!

As I said, my heart goes out to Mrs. McNair and her 4 sons. So I say this to her, keep your head up. Raise up your sons. Teach them to resist temptation and to always think with the head on their shoulders and not the one between their legs!. Walk in Grace as the true Goddess that you are and be Bless. Know that God has sat you free from a deceitful and adultrous husband, and has destroyed your enemy (Sahel Kazemi) too. So you must smile all the way to the bank, but please pause for a moment and look to the sky and whisper these words, "Thank you Lord for looking out for me and my children. Thank you Lord for being my divorce lawyer and judge, all in one. Thank you Lord for having my back! I love you Lord and praise your Holy name. Then step into that bank and collect what the Lord has deemed/rewarded for you and your 4 children(you certainly earned and deserved it). Then lastly, drive through life with a new beginning looking in the front window and never the rear view mirror...LIVE

My heart goes out to Mrs. McNair and her four sons. She is truly a remarkable woman. She helped this man through his football career(being there for him during the valleys and peaks, which is a tough task for a spouse), bored him four sons, and now must bury him because of his unfaithfulness to her. Steve McNair was an excellent football player and my favorite NFL QB. I thought of him as being a nice family man. Some say he did good for the community. Obviously he lived a double life, one for the public eyes and other that was dishonest, disloyal, disgraceful to his family. Apparently, Steve Mcnair abiliity to play football must have over circuited his brain for rational thinking. To risk embarassment himself and hurt to his family by taking up with a 20 YEAR RUNWAY OLD HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUT WAITRESS WHO HAS NOTHING TO OFFER HIM BUT SEX FOR AN EASY RIDE IN LIFE is a lack of common sense.

So I say to Mrs. McNair, keep your head up. Raise up your four son and teach them to resist tempt

I don't mean to be rude but it's obvious to see Sahel Kazemi didn't want to be famous, she wanted the life of Mechelle Mcnair.A life she truly could not have. She played herself, she wants to say he had someone else, truly he did,a wife.I hate the Mcnair family had to suffer like this.SHE WAS JUST STUPID AND SELFISH. THERE WAS ONLY 1 MRS STEVE MCNAIR,MECHELLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tracii7/10/2009

She wasn't sweet. She was stupid. She knowingly engaged in a relationship with a married man with a family. She deserved what she got. She got what she wanted

  • Perhaps7/9/2009

I wonder if she was on antidepressants?

It sure is sad reading about Steve & Sahel. But Sahel should have known better, that married man don't normally divorce their wives. Even if the guy promises to divorce his wife his only saying this to continue the illict affair. Since they both were party to an affair behind Mrs McNair's back I personally think they both deserve what they happened. As the saying goes what goes around comes around.

I am sure there are Many people hurting over this. But, this was not a accident. She intended this to happen, so how/why would anyone take up for her? She took a father from his kids! We will never know exactly what took place in that condo, but I bet that she figured out that he wasnt going to leave his family (really, now how many men actually do that) She lost her "free ride" and she went nuts! (Even her family has said "she had it made" with him! Come on now! It shouldnt be too hard to figure this one out!
