Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi Texts Shed Light on Relationship

Nashville police are reporting slain NFL star, Steve McNair, exchanged several dozen text messages with his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, in the 24 hours before the pair were discovered shot to death in a Nashville condo they reportedly shared. Steve McNair is a former NFL quarterback, having played for teams such as the Tennessee Titans, who was killed in July 2009. Police released the text messages between the McNair and Kazemi this week.

On July 3, Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi exchanged several text messages discussing Kazemi's health, finances and plans for the two to meet up at their Nashville condo, which is reported to have been the couple's love nest. McNair's girlfriend and mistress, Sahel Kazemi, is suspected of McNair's murder almost immediately following the July 3 texts. Nashville police believe Kazemi shot McNair, then turned the gun on herself and pulled the trigger. Both McNair and Kazemi died of their wounds at the scene, and the text messages the two shared in the hours before the probable murder-suicide are the last glimpse into McNair and Kazemi's relationship.

McNair was married, and his wife, Mechelle, did not appear to be aware of the affair between McNair and Kazemi before her husband's murder. There is speculation Kazemi killed McNair due to jealousy over another woman, Leah Ignagni, or possibly because McNair wasn't going to divorce his wife.

In her texts, Kazemi also displayed mounting emotional stress over finances and her health. In text messages she sent to Steve McNair the day before the shootings, Kazemi claimed she "might have a break down". In his texts in reply to Kazemi, McNair shows concern for Kazemi, telling her he had transferred $2,000 into Kazemi's bank account so she could pay her bills. McNair also told Kazemi to "rest for a minute" and "drink some water" when she complained of not feeling well.

Unfortunately, it would take more than some rest and hydration to prevent the tragic situation that would unfold next. Just a day after Sahel Kazemi told Steve McNair in a text, "I'm gonna have all of u soon", to which McNair replied, "Yes u will", it is alleged Sahel Kazemi pointed a gun at McNair and fired several shots, one or more of them proving fatal, before committing suicide
