Steven Threet - QB on the Run

Where Will His Next Stop Be?

Christine H
Upon graduating from Adrian High School in Adrian, MI in 2007, Steven Threet signed with Georgia Tech. After less than a year at GT he transferred to the University of Michigan. Due to the transfer he had to sit out the 2007 season under NCAA rules. After starting eight games for the Wolverines last year, Threet is on the run again. On February 16th, Threet announced he was leaving the University of Michigan. The question is, where will he end up next? And is all this transferring hurting his stock as a possible NFL quarterback?

Out of high school, Threet was a highly touted sought after recruit. He had offers from several Big Ten schools as well as a few others. The University of Michigan was not one of them. Will Threet run to one of those schools who previously showed interest? Or will he run somewhere else? It is not surprising that he is leaving the University of Michigan, as he was not a Rich Rodriguez recruit. And after one season of playing with U of M, his numbers were less than stellar. The University of Michigan had its worst season ever in 2008.

It is obvious he won't be headed to a college who has an immediate need at quarterback, since he will once again be sitting out under NCAA rules. My bet is on a Mid American Conference (MAC) school like Central Michigan or Toledo. Maybe even Grand Valley State University of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. My guess is he won't be headed to another big time program like he was at with Georgia Tech or the University of Michigan.

As far as his NFL stock, it will depend on where he ends up next, how much playing time he gets, and if he can stay put long enough to graduate or enter the NFL draft. Only time will tell where Steven Threet will run to next. At least Adrian still has Kellen Davis to be proud of.
