The smartest comment to come out of Congress so far year belongs to an Independent, Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, to come out and say, "I'm afraid we've got to think about putting a lot of that [healthcare reform] off until the economy is out of recession. There's no reason we have to do it all now." - You don't say.
That comment surely must have made the liberals cringe at such a thought that someone who used to be one of their own could actually have some common sense and how dare the socialist healthcare bill be put on the back burner. Sure "some" healthcare issues are important but having people out of work defeats the purpose let alone, more are losing healthcare because, surprise, they are losing their jobs.
Let's wait until the economy is over - now that's a novel idea -- too bad liberals can't see or understand that because they should. After all, they invented the phrase, "It's the Economy Stupid", that they threw around like a basketball during the first Bill Clinton election against GH Bush - someone forgot to tell them that strategy phrase should have been buried in the liberal handbook never to see the light of day again.
Obama and the other Democrats want nothing of this economy other than to increase the size of the government - might I add large government-- and having less government is out of the picture. In their minds, the economy will work itself out and all will be blessed at the miracle the democrats have trusted upon the American society - I am still waiting for this grand wizard to show up and wave a wand.
Then you have good ole' Sen. Schumer -- a primetime liberal -- who knows no barrier to anything other than acting like he knows what's best for 300 million people when it comes to healthcare, stating that "Hey, the GOP won't agree to our terms, so we'll just use the nuclear option and pass it anyway." Sen. Schumer, are you aware that millions are out of work and our national debt has risen so high that airliners now have to take detours in our own skies?
Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, spoke his wisdom that was nothing more than right on the spot as he said, "That would be an abuse of the process." - Talk about abuse, the economy is a prime example and that is reality we can believe in.
For many homeowners, this economy has turned into a vast nightmare. The American dream of owning a home has become a high-stakes roller with the liberals on one side and the homeowner on the other side. Add to that, the high rate of unemployment, the fall of home values and the high rate of foreclosures, surely some liberal would have woken up. But fear not, let's make sure Grandma knows that her illness has become a burden on society by taking the cheap way out through nationalized healthcare - She won't mind, she is about to lose her house anyway because her burden is a top priority, not the fact that she is losing her home.
It boggles common sense as to why the economy isn't the nation's priority right now - well really national security is the number one priority but Obama is too busy trying to figure out if he can last longer than Jimmy Carter and how to appease the Muslims in the Middle East.
But I am sure Obama is also contemplating on whether or not his law degree from Harvard Law School was a counterfeit from a diploma mill in Russia - because it is not doing him well, especially knowing when one crosses the line in violation of the Constitution and of what his prime job is as President is.
But then again, at one time in his life, former President Jimmy Carter was a farmer so it came as a surprise when he terminated the Russian wheat deal which would have helped our farmers with exports and a boost to the economy but obviously; his background in farming was left back in Georgia. One can guess how well that perked up the economy - déjà vu, Obama?
Am I surprised at what is happening with the economy under Obama? Not in the least as I knew this was coming - too bad millions didn't and voted for him anyway. While millions are suffering under these economic conditions, those in charge have no clue of reality and I am quite sure that none of them in the Obama administration have to deal with creditor's day in and day out - ever try to get through on the White House switchboard?
It behooves me to think that the very same people, liberals and bankers alike, helped cause this severe recession and then have the nerve to throw it back on the average American worker like the American worker somehow is at fault for losing his job - Hello Washington, they are really at the mercy of your policies, get it?
The Obama administration claims that the stimulus is working but one has to ask at what price is this so-called crisis coming to an end and are they being truthful? An op-ed from the Tax Policy Center's Len Burman stated - well gave a warning that seems to fall on deaf ears of liberals - that massive trillion-dollar deficits will lead to a catastrophe that could very well end America as a great power. Somehow that seems unimportant because everyone is falling over their feat on praising Michael Jackson, a drug addict and how wonderful he is - well Michael won't have to worry about the demise of America now will he?
But I have to hand it to CNN - believe me that was hard for me to say - that business correspondent Christine Romans stated, "We're spending vastly more than we take in. We will for the foreseeable future. We're racking up these deficits; we pay interest on all of this debt." Maybe CNN has finally passed the Obama-mania fest party and woke up - I doubt it but they can surprise us once in a while.
Democrats continue to remind us that having them run the nation is bad policy in its own right. They want us to forget our troubles and to trust them. One day we will see them march across their pearly platforms huffily announcing to us all that yes, we voted for this and that and then voted against it because now we realize that the economy really is bad - purposely forgetting all the doom and gloom they presented to us during the presidential election - but reminding us daily that this is still all GW Bush's fault. I am sure Sen. John Kerry should be proud that his coined stupor phrase, "I actually voted for the $86 billion dollars before I voted against it" still lives on in the liberal playbook.
While Americans continue to struggle, the Liberals will continue to insist that the money will be well spent and that they will become heroes and the day will be saved.
Reality check -- Heroes exist in the real world when lives are saved and cherished; not destroyed by political bureaucrats. That's a fact we can believe in.
