Stillborn

My First Baby was Stillborn

Yvonne Leehelen Dowell
They said you were lovely.

I gave you a name.

They said

You had the longest black hair

they ever saw, for a newborn.

They say you were lovely.

My heart carries your name.

They said

You had soft dark skin and huge blue eyes.

They said

I couldn't see you.

They said

it's best this way.

They said

You will forget this day.

You won't remember the grief of today.

They said,

" Someday you will have another daughter."

"It is the same as a miscarriage."

"Even though you carried her full term."

I remember the agony of that day.

They said you were lovely.

My heart carries your name.

I never forgot that day.

They said you were lovely.

My heart carries your name.

I never had another daughter.

It wasn't the same as a miscarriage.

I had the memory of carrying you full term.

They said you were lovely.

My heart carries your name.

I dream about you.....

I caress your soft dark skin.

You smile

I hold you tight... near my breast

My cherished baby girl.

I kiss your huge blue eyes.

I stroke your precious cheek and say...

I remember you.

You are lovely.

My heart carries your name.

In Memory of Michele Suzanne DeShaw April,8 1966.

I'm so sorry. Someday you'll see her again in Heaven.
